ㄷ요아스가 位(위)에 나아갈 때에 나이 七歲(칠세)라 예루살렘에서 四十年(사십년)을 治理(치리)하니라 그 母親(모친)의 이름은 시비아라 브엘세바 사람이더라
Joash was seven years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem forty years. His mother's name was Zibiah; she was from Beersheba. Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Zibiah of Beersheba. |

Joash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all the years of Jehoiada the priest. And Joash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest. |

여호야다가 王(왕)으로 두 아내에게 장가들게 하였더니 子女(자녀)를 낳았더라
Jehoiada chose two wives for him, and he had sons and daughters. And Jehoiada took for him two wives; and he begat sons and daughters. |

● 그 後(후)에 요아스가 ㅁ여호와의 殿(전)을 重修(중수)할 ㅂ뜻을 두고
Some time later Joash decided to restore the temple of the LORD. And it came to pass after this, that Joash was minded to repair the house of the LORD. |

祭司長(제사장)과 레위 사람을 모으고 저희에게 이르되 너희는 유다 여러 城邑(성읍)에 가서 ㅅ이스라엘 무리에게 해마다 너희 하나님의 殿(전)을 修理(수리)할 돈을 거두되 그 일을 빨리
하라 하였으나 레위 사람이 빨리 하지 아니한지라

He called together the priests and Levites and said to them, "Go to the towns of Judah and collect the money due annually from all Israel, to repair the temple of your God. Do it now." But the Levites did not act at once. And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that ye hasten the matter. Howbeit the Levites hastened it not. |

王(왕)이 大祭司長(대제사장) 여호야다를 불러 이르되 네가 어찌하여 레위 사람을 시켜서 여호와의 종 ㅇ모세와 이스라엘의 會衆(회중)이 ㅈ法幕(법막)을 爲(위)하여
定(정)한 稅(세)를 유다와 예루살렘에서 거두게 하지 아니하였느냐 하니
Therefore the king summoned Jehoiada the chief priest and said to him, "Why haven't you required the Levites to bring in from Judah and Jerusalem the tax imposed by Moses the servant of the LORD and by the assembly of Israel for the Tent of the Testimony?" And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said unto him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the collection, according to the commandment of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness? |

이는 그 ㅊ惡(악)한 女人(여인) 아달랴의 아들들이 하나님의 殿(전)을 깨뜨리고 또 ㅋ여호와의 殿(전)의 모든 聖物(성물)을 바알들에게 드렸음이었더라
Now the sons of that wicked woman Athaliah had broken into the temple of God and had used even its sacred objects for the Baals. For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD did they bestow upon Baalim. |

● 이에 王(왕)이 命(명)하여 한 櫃(궤)를 만들어 여호와의 殿(전) 門(문)밖에 두게 하고
At the king's command, a chest was made and placed outside, at the gate of the temple of the LORD. And at the king's commandment they made a chest, and set it without at the gate of the house of the LORD. |

ㅌ유다와 예루살렘에 頒布(반포)하여 하나님의 종 모세가 曠野(광야)에서 이스라엘에게 定(정)한 稅(세)를 여호와께 드리라 하였더니

A proclamation was then issued in Judah and Jerusalem that they should bring to the LORD the tax that Moses the servant of God had required of Israel in the desert. And they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring in to the LORD the collection that Moses the servant of God laid upon Israel in the wilderness. |

모든 方伯(방백)과 百姓(백성)들이 기뻐하며 마치기까지 돈을 가져다가 櫃(궤)에 던진지라
All the officials and all the people brought their contributions gladly, dropping them into the chest until it was full. And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, until they had made an end. |

언제든지 레위 사람들이 櫃(궤)를 메고 王(왕)의 有司(유사)에게 가서 돈이 많은 것을 보면 王(왕)의 書記官(서기관)과 大祭司長(대제사장)에게 屬(속)한 衙前(아전)이
와서 그 櫃(궤)를 쏟고 다시 그 處所(처소)에 갖다 두었더라 때때로 이렇게 하여 돈을 많이 거두매
Whenever the chest was brought in by the Levites to the king's officials and they saw that there was a large amount of money, the royal secretary and the officer of the chief priest would come and empty the chest and carry it back to its place. They did this regularly and collected a great amount of money. Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought unto the king's office by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and the high priest's officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to his place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance. |

王(왕)과 여호야다가 그 돈을 여호와의 殿(전) 幹役者(간역자)에게 주어 石手(석수)와 木手(목수)를 雇傭(고용)하여 여호와의 殿(전)을 重修(중수)하며 또 鐵工匠(철공장)과 놋工匠(공장)을
雇傭(고용)하여 여호와의 殿(전)을 修理(수리)하게 하였더니
The king and Jehoiada gave it to the men who carried out the work required for the temple of the LORD. They hired masons and carpenters to restore the LORD'S temple, and also workers in iron and bronze to repair the temple. And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of the LORD, and also such as wrought iron and brass to mend the house of the LORD. |

ㅍ工匠(공장)들이 맡아서 修理(수리)하는 役事(역사)가
漸漸(점점) 進就(진취)되므로 하나님의 殿(전)을 以前(이전) 貌樣(모양)대로 堅固(견고)케 하니라

The men in charge of the work were diligent, and the repairs progressed under them. They rebuilt the temple of God according to its original design and reinforced it. So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it. |

畢役(필역)한 後(후)에 그 남은 돈을 王(왕)과 여호야다의 앞으로 가져온 故(고)로 ㅎ그것으로 여호와의 殿(전)에 쓸 그릇을
만들었으니 곧 섬겨 祭祀(제사) 드리는 그릇이며 또 숟가락과 金(금), 銀(은) 그릇들이라 여호야다가 世上(세상)에 사는 모든 날에 여호와의 殿(전)에 恒常(항상) 燔祭(번제)를 드렸더라

When they had finished, they brought the rest of the money to the king and Jehoiada, and with it were made articles for the LORD'S temple: articles for the service and for the burnt offerings, and also dishes and other objects of gold and silver. As long as Jehoiada lived, burnt offerings were presented continually in the temple of the LORD. And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, whereof were made vessels for the house of the LORD, even vessels to minister, and to offer withal, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada. |

● 여호야다가 나이 많고 늙어서 죽으니 죽을 때에 一百(일백) 三十歲(삼십세)라
Now Jehoiada was old and full of years, and he died at the age of a hundred and thirty. But Jehoiada waxed old, and was full of days when he died; an hundred and thirty years old was he when he died. |

무리가 다윗 城(성) ㅏ列王(열왕)의 墓室(묘실) 中(중)에 葬事(장사)하였으니 이는 저가 ㅑ이스라엘과 하나님과 그 殿(전)에 對(대)하여 善(선)을
行(행)하였음이더라
He was buried with the kings in the City of David, because of the good he had done in Israel for God and his temple. And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house. |
17 |
여호야다가 죽은 後(후)에 유다 方伯(방백)들이 와서 王(왕)에게 절하매 王(왕)이 그의 말을 듣고
After the death of Jehoiada, the officials of Judah came and paid homage to the king, and he listened to them. Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king hearkened unto them. |

그 列祖(열조)의 하나님 여호와의 殿(전)을 버리고 ㅓ아세라 木像(목상)과 偶像(우상)을 섬긴 故(고)로 이 罪(죄)로 因(인)하여 ㅕ震怒(진노)가 유다와 예루살렘에
臨(임)하니라
They abandoned the temple of the LORD, the God of their fathers, and worshiped Asherah poles and idols. Because of their guilt, God's anger came upon Judah and Jerusalem. And they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass. |
19 |
ㅗ그러나 여호와께서 先知者(선지자)를 저에게 보내사 다시 自己(자기)에게로 돌아오게 하려 하시매 ㅛ先知者(선지자)들이 저에게 警戒(경계)하나 듣지 아니하니라
Although the LORD sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen. Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear. |

● ㅜ이에 하나님의 神(신)이 祭司長(제사장) ㅠ여호야다의 아들 스가랴를 感動(감동)시키시매 저가 百姓(백성) 앞에 높이 서서 저희에게 이르되 여호와께서 말씀하시기를 너희가 으어찌하여 여호와의
命令(명령)을 拒逆(거역)하여 스스로 亨通(형통)치 못하게 하느냐 하셨나니 이너희가 여호와를 버린故(고)로 여호와께서도 너희를 버리셨느니라 하나
Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, "This is what God says: 'Why do you disobey the LORD'S commands? You will not prosper. Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has forsaken you.'" And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the LORD, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the LORD, he hath also forsaken you. |

ㅐ무리가 함께 꾀하고 王(왕)의 命(명)을 좇아 여호와의 殿(전) 뜰 안에서 ㄱ돌로 쳐 죽였더라
But they plotted against him, and by order of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the LORD'S temple. And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD. |
22 |
요아스 王(왕)이 이와 같이 스가랴의 아비 여호야다의 베푼 恩惠(은혜)를 생각지 아니하고 그 아들을 죽이니 저가 죽을 때에 이르되 여호와는 監察(감찰)하시고 ㄴ伸寃(신원)하여 주옵소서 하니라

King Joash did not remember the kindness Zechariah's father Jehoiada had shown him but killed his son, who said as he lay dying, "May the LORD see this and call you to account." Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it. |

● 一週年(일주년) 後(후)에 ㄷ아람 軍隊(군대)가 요아스를 치려 하여 올라와서 유다와 예루살렘에 이르러 百姓(백성) 中(중)에서 그 모든 方伯(방백)을
滅絶(멸절)하고 擄略(노략)한 物件(물건)을 다메섹 王(왕)에게로 보내니라
At the turn of the year, the army of Aram marched against Joash; it invaded Judah and Jerusalem and killed all the leaders of the people. They sent all the plunder to their king in Damascus. And it came to pass at the end of the year, that the host of Syria came up against him: and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them unto the king of Damascus. |

아람 軍隊(군대)가 적은 무리로 왔으나 ㄹ여호와께서 甚(심)히 큰 軍隊(군대)를 그 손에 붙이셨으니 이는 유다 사람이 그 列祖(열조)의 하나님 여호와를 버렸음이라 이와 같이 아람 사람이
ㅁ요아스를 懲罰(징벌)하였더라
Although the Aramean army had come with only a few men, the LORD delivered into their hands a much larger army. Because Judah had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers, judgment was executed on Joash. For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the LORD delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash. |
25 |
요아스가 크게 ㅂ傷(상)하매 敵軍(적군)이 버리고 간 後(후)에 그 臣僕(신복)들이 ㅅ祭司長(제사장) 여호야다의 아들들의 피로 因(인)하여
ㅇ謀叛(모반)하여 그 寢床(침상)에서 쳐 죽인지라 다윗城(성)에 葬事(장사)하였으나
ㅈ列王(열왕)의 墓室(묘실)에는 葬事(장사)하지 아니하였더라
When the Arameans withdrew, they left Joash severely wounded. His officials conspired against him for murdering the son of Jehoiada the priest, and they killed him in his bed. So he died and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings. And when they were departed from him, (for they left him in great diseases,) his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed, and he died: and they buried him in the city of David, but they buried him not in the sepulchres of the kings. |

謀叛(모반)한 者(자)는 암몬 女人(여인) 시므앗의 아들 시밧과 모압 女人(여인) 시므릿의 아들 여호사밧이더라
Those who conspired against him were Zabad, son of Shimeath an Ammonite woman, and Jehozabad, son of Shimrith a Moabite woman. And these are they that conspired against him; Zabad the son of Shimeath an Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith a Moabitess. |

요아스의 아들들의 事蹟(사적)과 요아스의 重大(중대)한 警責(경책)을 받은 것과 ㅊ하나님의 殿(전) 重修(중수)한
事蹟(사적)은 다 ㅋ列王記(열왕기) 註釋(주석)에 記錄(기록)되니라 그 아들 아마샤가 代身(대신)하여 王(왕)이 되니라
The account of his sons, the many prophecies about him, and the record of the restoration of the temple of God are written in the annotations on the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son succeeded him as king. Now concerning his sons, and the greatness of the burdens laid upon him, and the repairing of the house of God, behold, they are written in the story of the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his stead. |
