● 나는 ㅏ다른 사람에게 比(비)하면 짐승이라 내게는 사람의 聰明(총명)이 있지 아니하니라

나는 智慧(지혜)를 배우지 못하였고 또 ㅑ거룩하신 者(자)를 아는 知識(지식)이 없거니와

I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One. I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy. |

ㅓ하늘에 올라갔다가 내려온
者(자)가 누구인지, ㅕ바람을 그 掌中(장중)에 모은 者(자)가 누구인지, ㅗ물을 옷에 싼 者(자)가 누구인지, ㅛ땅의 모든 끝을 定(정)한
者(자)가 누구인지, ㅜ그 이름이 무엇인지, 그 아들의 이름이 무엇인지 너는 아느냐
Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and the name of his son? Tell me if you know! Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? |

● ㅠ하나님의 말씀은 다 純全(순전)하며 하나님은 으그를 依支(의지)하는 者(자)의 防牌(방패)시니라
Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. |

너는 이그 말씀에 더하지 말라 그가 너를 責望(책망)하시겠고 너는 거짓말 하는 者(자)가 될까 두려우니라
Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. |

● 내가 두 가지 일을 主(주)께 求(구)하였사오니 ㅐ나의 죽기 前(전)에 주시옵소서

곧 虛誕(허탄)과 거짓말을 내게서 멀리 하옵시며 나로 가난하게도 마옵시고 富(부)하게도 마옵시고 오직 ㄱ必要(필요)한 糧食(양식)으로
내게 먹이시옵소서
Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: |

或(혹) 내가 ㄴ배불러서 ㄷ하나님을 모른다 ㄹ여호와가 누구냐 할까 하오며 或(혹) 내가 가난하여 盜賊(도적)질하고 ㅁ내
하나님의 이름을 辱(욕)되게 할까 두려워함이니이다
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God. Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. |

● ㅂ너는 종을 그 上典(상전)에게 毁謗(훼방)하지 말라 그가 ㅅ너를 詛呪(저주)하겠고 너는 罪責(죄책)을 當(당)할까 두려우니라
Do not slander a servant to his master, or he will curse you, and you will pay for it. Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty. |

● ㅇ아비를 詛呪(저주)하며 어미를 祝福(축복)하지 아니하는 무리가 있느니라
There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers; There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. |

ㅈ스스로 깨끗한 者(자)로 여기면서 오히려 그 더러운 것을 씻지 아니하는 무리가 있느니라
those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth; There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. |

ㅊ눈이 甚(심)히 높으며 그 눈꺼풀이 높이 들린 무리가 있느니라

those whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful; There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. |

앞니는 ㅋ長劍(장검) 같고 ㅌ어금니는 軍刀(군도) 같아서 가난한 者(자)를 땅에서 삼키며 ㅍ窮乏(궁핍)한 者(자)를 사람 中(중)에서 삼키는
무리가 있느니라
those whose teeth are swords and whose jaws are set with knives to devour the poor from the earth, the needy from among mankind. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men. |

● 거머리에게는 두 딸이 있어 다고, 다고 하느니라 足(족)한 줄을 알지 못하여 足(족)하다 하지 아니하는 것 ㅎ서넛이 있나니
The leech has two daughters. 'Give! Give!' they cry. There are three things that are never satisfied, four that never say, 'Enough!': The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough: |

곧 ㅏ陰府(음부)와 ㅑ아이 배지 못하는 胎(태)와 물로 채울 수 없는 땅과 足(족)하다 하지 아니하는 불이니라
the grave, the barren womb, land, which is never satisfied with water, and fire, which never says, 'Enough!' The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough. |

● ㅓ아비를 嘲弄(조롱)하며 ㅕ어미 順從(순종)하기를 싫어하는 者(자)의 눈은 ㅗ골짜기의 까마귀에게 ㅛ쪼이고 독수리 새끼에게
먹히리라
The eye that mocks a father, that scorns obedience to a mother, will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley, will be eaten by the vultures. The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it. |

the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship on the high seas, and the way of a man with a maiden. The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid. |

淫女(음녀)의 자취도 그러하니라 그가 먹고 그 입을 씻음 같이 말하기를 내가 惡(악)을 行(행)치 아니하였다 하느니라
This is the way of an adulteress: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, 'I've done nothing wrong.' Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness. |

● 世上(세상)을 震動(진동)시키며 ㅠ世上(세상)으로 견딜 수 없게 하는 것 서넛이 있나니
Under three things the earth trembles, under four it cannot bear up: For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear: |

곧 으종이 임금된 것과 미련한 者(자)가 이배부른 것과
a servant who becomes king, a fool who is full of food, For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat; |

ㅐ꺼림을 받는 계집이 ㄱ시집간 것과 계집 종이 主母(주모)를 이은 것이니라
an unloved woman who is married, and a maidservant who displaces her mistress. For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress. |

● 땅에 작고도 가장 智慧(지혜)로운 것 넷이 있나니
Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise: There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise: |

곧 힘이 없는 種類(종류)로되 먹을 것을 여름에 豫備(예비)하는 ㄴ개미와

Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer; The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; |

弱(약)한 種類(종류)로되 집을 바위 사이에 짓는 ㄷ사반과
coneys are creatures of little power, yet they make their home in the crags; The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks; |

ㄹ임군이 없으되 다 ㅁ떼를 지어 나아가는 메뚜기와
locusts have no king, yet they advance together in ranks; The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands; |

손에 잡힐만하여도 王宮(왕궁)에 있는 도마뱀이니라
a lizard can be caught with the hand, yet it is found in kings' palaces. The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces. |

잘 걸으며 威風(위풍)있게 다니는 것 서넛이 있나니
There are three things that are stately in their stride, four that move with stately bearing: There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going: |

곧 짐승 中(중)에 가장 强(강)하여 ㅂ아무 짐승 앞에서도 물러가지 아니하는 獅子(사자)와

● 萬一(만일) 네가 미련하여 스스로 높은 체 하였거나 或(혹) 惡(악)한 일을 圖謀(도모)하였거든 네 ㅇ손으로 입을 막으라
If you have played the fool and exalted yourself, or if you have planned evil, clap your hand over your mouth! If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth. |

大抵(대저) 젖을 저으면 뻐터가 되고 코를 비틀면 피가 나는 것 같이 怒(노)를 激動(격동)하면 다툼이 남이니라
For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife." Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife. |
