1 上典(상전)들아 義(의)와 公平(공평)을 종들에게 베풀지니 너희에게도 하늘에 上典(상전)이 계심을 알찌어다

Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.

Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.

2 祈禱(기도)를 恒常(항상) 힘쓰고 祈禱(기도)에 感謝(감사)함으로 깨어 있으라

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

3 또한 우리를 爲(위)하여 祈禱(기도)하되 하나님이 1)傳道(전도)할 門(문)을 우리에게 열어주사 그리스도의 秘密(비밀)을 말하게 하시기를 求(구)하라 내가 이것을 因(인)하여 매임을 當(당)하였노라

And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.

Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:

4 그리하면 내가 마땅히 할 말로써 이 秘密(비밀)을 나타내리라

Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

5 外人(외인)을 向(향)하여서는 智慧(지혜)로 行(행)하여 2)歲月(세월)을 아끼라

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

6 너희 말을 恒常(항상) 3)恩惠(은혜) 가운데서 소금으로 고루게 함같이 하라 그리하면 各(각) 사람에게 마땅히 對答(대답)할 것을 알리라

Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

7 ● 두기고가 私情(사정)을 다 너희에게 알게 하리니 그는 사랑을 받는 兄弟(형제)요 信實(신실)한 일군이요 主(주) 안에서 함께 된 종이라

Tychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a dear brother, a faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord.

All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:

8 내가 저를 特別(특별)히 너희에게 보낸 것은 너희로 우리 私情(사정)을 알게 하고 너희 마음을 慰勞(위로)하게 하려 함이라

I am sending him to you for the express purpose that you may know about our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts.

Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;

9 信實(신실)하고 사랑을 받는 兄弟(형제) 오네시모를 함께 보내노니 그는 너희에게서 온 사람이라 저희가 여기 일을 다 너희에게 알게 하리라

He is coming with Onesimus, our faithful and dear brother, who is one of you. They will tell you everything that is happening here.

With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.

10 나와 함께 갇힌 아리스다고와 바나바의 甥姪(생질) 마가와 (이 마가에 對(대)하여 너희가 命(명)을 받았으매 그가 이르거든 迎接(영접)하라)

My fellow prisoner Aristarchus sends you his greetings, as does Mark, the cousin of Barnabas. (You have received instructions about him; if he comes to you, welcome him.)

Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)

11 유스도라 하는 예수도 너희에게 問安(문안)하니 저희는 割禮黨(할례당)이라 이들만 하나님 나라를 爲(위)하여 함께 役事(역사)하는 者(자)들이니 이런 사람들이 나의 慰勞(위로)가 되었느니라

Jesus, who is called Justus, also sends greetings. These are the only Jews among my fellow workers for the kingdom of God, and they have proved a comfort to me.

And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.

12 그리스도 예수의 종인 너희에게서 온 에바브라가 너희에게 問安(문안)하니 저가 恒常(항상) 너희를 爲(위)하여 애써 祈禱(기도)하여 너희로 하나님의 모든 뜻 가운데서 完全(완전)하고 確信(확신) 있게 서기를 求(구)하나니

Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

13 그가 너희와 라오디게아에 있는 者(자)들과 히에라볼리에 있는 者(자)들을 爲(위)하여 많이 受苦(수고)하는 것을 내가 證據(증거)하노라

I vouch for him that he is working hard for you and for those at Laodicea and Hierapolis.

For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.

14 사랑을 받는 醫員(의원) 누가와 또 데마가 너희에게 問安(문안)하느니라

Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings.

Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.

15 라오디게아에 있는 兄弟(형제)들과 눔바와 그 女子(여자)의 집에 있는 敎會(교회)에 問安(문안)하고

Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house.

Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.

16 이 便紙(편지)를 너희에게서 읽은 後(후)에 라오디게아人(인)의 敎會(교회)에서도 읽게 하고 또 라오디게아로서 오는 便紙(편지)를 너희도 읽으라

After this letter has been read to you, see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans and that you in turn read the letter from Laodicea.

And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.

17 아킵보에게 이르기를 主(주) 안에서 받은 職分(직분)을 삼가 이루라고 하라

Tell Archippus: "See to it that you complete the work you have received in the Lord."

And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.

18 ● 나 바울은 親筆(친필)로 問安(문안)하노니 나의 매인 것을 생각하라 恩惠(은혜)가 너희에게 있을찌어다

I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.
