이어떤 사람은 ㅐ그 心靈(심령)의 모든 所願(소원)에 不足(부족)함이 없어 財物(재물)과 富饒(부요)와 尊貴(존귀)를 ㄱ하나님께 받았으나 ㄴ能(능)히 누리게 하심을 얻지 못하였으므로 다른
사람이 누리나니 이것도 헛되어 惡(악)한 病(병)이로다
God gives a man wealth, possessions and honor, so that he lacks nothing his heart desires, but God does not enable him to enjoy them, and a stranger enjoys them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil. A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease. |

사람이 비록 一百(일백) 子女(자녀)를 낳고 또 長壽(장수)하여 ㄷ사는 날이 많을찌라도 그 心靈(심령)에 ㄹ樂(낙)이 足(족)하지 못하고 또 그 몸이
ㅁ埋葬(매장)되지 못하면 나는 이르기를 ㅂ落胎(낙태)된 者(자)가 저보다 낫다 하노니
A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he. If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he. |

落胎(낙태)된 者(자)는 헛되이 왔다가 어두운 中(중)에 가매 그 이름이 어두움에 덮이니
It comes without meaning, it departs in darkness, and in darkness its name is shrouded. For he cometh in with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness. |

ㅅ햇빛을 보지 못하고 알지 못하나 이가 ㅇ저보다 平安(평안)함이라
Though it never saw the sun or knew anything, it has more rest than does that man-- Moreover he hath not seen the sun, nor known any thing: this hath more rest than the other. |

저가 비록 千年(천년)의 갑절을 산다 할찌라도 樂(낙)을 누리지 못하면 마침내 다 한 곳으로 돌아가는 것뿐이 아니냐
even if he lives a thousand years twice over but fails to enjoy his prosperity. Do not all go to the same place? Yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place? |

ㅋ눈으로 보는 것이 心靈(심령)의 空想(공상)보다 나으나 이것도 ㅌ헛되어 바람을 잡으려는 것이로다
Better what the eye sees than the roving of the appetite. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit. |

● 이미 있는 무엇이든지 ㅍ오래 前(전)부터 그 이름이 稱(칭)한 바 되었으며 사람이 무엇인지도 이미 안 바 되었나니 ㅎ自己(자기)보다 强(강)한 者(자)와
能(능)히 다툴 수 없느니라
Whatever exists has already been named, and what man is has been known; no man can contend with one who is stronger than he. That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he. |

헛된 것을 더하게 하는 많은 1)일이 있나니 사람에게 무엇이 有益(유익)하랴

The more the words, the less the meaning, and how does that profit anyone? Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better? |

ㅏ헛된 生命(생명)의 모든 날을 ㅑ그림자같이 보내는 一平生(일평생)에 사람에게 무엇이 樂(낙)인지 누가 알며 ㅓ그 身後(신후)에 해 아래서 무슨 일이 있을 것을 누가 能(능)히 그에게 告(고)하리요
For who knows what is good for a man in life, during the few and meaningless days he passes through like a shadow? Who can tell him what will happen under the sun after he is gone? For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun? |
