The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai: Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, |

너는 일어나 저 ㄴ큰 城邑(성읍) ㄷ니느웨로 가서 그것을 쳐서 외치라 ㄹ그 惡毒(악독)이 내 앞에 上達(상달)하였음이니라 하시니라
Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me. Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. |

그러나 요나가 여호와의 낯을 避(피)하려고 일어나 ㅁ다시스로 ㅂ逃亡(도망)하려 하여 ㅅ욥바로 내려갔더니 마침 다시스로 가는 배를 만난지라 ㅇ여호와의 낯을 避(피)하여 함께 다시스로 가려고 船價(선가)를 주고 배에 올랐더라
But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. |

● ㅈ여호와께서 大風(대풍)을 바다위에 내리시매 바다 가운데 暴風(폭풍)이 大作(대작)하여 배가 거의 ㅊ깨어지게 된지라
Then the LORD sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up. But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. |

沙工(사공)이 두려워 하여 各各(각각) 自己(자기)의 ㅋ神(신)을 부르고 또 배를 가볍게 하려고 ㅌ그 가운데 物件(물건)을 바다에 던지니라 그러나 요나는 배 밑層(층)에 내려가서 누워 깊이 잠이 든지라
All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep. Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. |

船長(선장)이 나아가서 그에게 이르되 자는 者(자)여 어찜이뇨 일어나서 네 하나님께 求(구)하라 ㅍ或時(혹시) 하나님이 우리를 생각하사 亡(망)하지 않게 하시리라 하니라

The captain went to him and said, "How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us, and we will not perish." So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not. |

그들이 서로 이르되 자 우리가 ㅎ제비를 뽑아 이 災殃(재앙)이 누구로 因(인)하여 우리에게 臨(임)하였나 알자 하고 곧 제비를 뽑으니 제비가 요나에게 當(당)한지라

Then the sailors said to each other, "Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity." They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah. And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. |

무리가 그에게 이르되 請(청)컨대 이 災殃(재앙)이 무슨 緣故(연고)로 우리에게 臨(임)하였는가 告(고)하라 네 生業(생업)이 무엇이며 어디서 왔으며 故國(고국)이 어디며
어느 民族(민족)에 屬(속)하였느냐
So they asked him, "Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?" Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? |

그가 對答(대답)하되 나는 히브리 사람이요 ㅏ바다와 陸地(육지)를 지으신 ㅑ하늘의 하나님 여호와를
敬畏(경외)하는 者(자)로라 하고
He answered, "I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land." And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land. |

自己(자기)가 여호와의 낯을 避(피)함인줄을 그들에게 告(고)하였으므로 무리가 알고 甚(심)히 두려워하여 이르되 네가 어찌하여 이렇게 行(행)하였느냐 하니라
This terrified them and they asked, "What have you done?" (They knew he was running away from the LORD, because he had already told them so.) Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. |

● 바다가 漸漸(점점) 洶湧(흉용)한지라 무리가 그에게 이르되 우리가 너를 어떻게 하여야 바다가 우리를 爲(위)하여 潺潺(잔잔)하겠느냐
The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, "What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?" Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. |

그가 對答(대답)하되 나를 들어 바다에 던지라 그리하면 바다가 너희를 爲(위)하여 潺潺(잔잔)하리라 ㅓ너희가 이 큰 暴風(폭풍)을 만난 것이 나의
緣故(연고)인 줄을 내가 아노라 하니라

Pick me up and throw me into the sea, he replied, "and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you." And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. |

그러나 그 사람들이 힘써 櫓(노)를 저어 배를 陸地(육지)에 돌리고자 하다가 바다가 그들을 向(향)하여 漸漸(점점) 더 洶湧(흉용)하므로 能(능)히 못한지라
Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before. Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them. |

무리가 여호와께 부르짖어 가로되 여호와여 求(구)하고 求(구)하오니 이 사람의 生命(생명) 까닭에 우리를 滅亡(멸망)시키지 마옵소서 ㅕ無罪(무죄)한 피를 우리에게 돌리지 마옵소서
ㅗ主(주) 여호와께서는 主(주)의 뜻대로 行(행)하심이니이다 하고
Then they cried to the LORD, "O LORD, please do not let us die for taking this man's life. Do not hold us accountable for killing an innocent man, for you, O LORD, have done as you pleased." Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee. |
15 |
요나를 들어 바다에 던지매 ㅛ바다의 뛰노는 것이 곧 그친지라
Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm. So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging. |
16 |
그 사람들이 여호와를 크게 두려워하여 여호와께 ㅜ祭物(제물)을 드리고 ㅠ誓願(서원)을 하였더라
At this the men greatly feared the LORD, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows to him. Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows. |
17 |
● 여호와께서 이미 큰 물고기를 豫備(예비)하사 요나를 삼키게 하셨으므로 으요나가 三日(삼일) 三夜(삼야)를 물고기 배에 있으니라
But the LORD provided a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights. Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. |
