ㅌ아마샤가 位(위)에 나아갈 때에 나이 二十五歲(이십오세)라 예루살렘에서 二十九年(이십구년)을 治理(치리)하니라 그 母親(모친)의 이름은 여호앗단이라 예루살렘 사람이더라
Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother's name was Jehoaddin; she was from Jerusalem. Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem. |

아마샤가 여호와 보시기에 正直(정직)히 行(행)하기는 하였으나 ㅍ穩全(온전)한 마음으로 行(행)치 아니하였더라

그 나라가 굳게 서매 그 父王(부왕)을 죽인 臣僕(신복)들을 죽였으나
After the kingdom was firmly in his control, he executed the officials who had murdered his father the king. Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father. |

저희 子女(자녀)는 죽이지 아니하였으니 이는 모세 律法冊(율법책)에 記錄(기록)한대로 함이라 곧 여호와께서 命(명)하여 이르시기를 ㅎ子女(자녀)로 因(인)하여 아비를 죽이지 말 것이요 아비로 因(인)하여 子女(자녀)를 죽이지 말 것이라 오직 各(각) 사람은 自己(자기)의 罪(죄)로 因(인)하여 죽을 것이니라 하셨더라
Yet he did not put their sons to death, but acted in accordance with what is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded: "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sins." But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin. |

● 아마샤가 유다 사람을 모으고 그 여러 族屬(족속)을 따라 千夫長(천부장)과 百夫長(백부장)을 세우되 유다와 베냐민을 함께 그리하고 ㅏ二十歲(이십세) 以上(이상)으로 計數(계수)하여 ㅑ槍(창)과 防牌(방패)를 잡고 能(능)히 戰場(전장)에 나갈 만한 者(자) ㅓ三十萬(삼십만)을 얻고
Amaziah called the people of Judah together and assigned them according to their families to commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds for all Judah and Benjamin. He then mustered those twenty years old or more and found that there were three hundred thousand men ready for military service, able to handle the spear and shield. Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield. |

또 銀(은) 一百(일백) 달란트로 이스라엘 나라에서 큰 勇士(용사) 十萬(십만)을 삯 내었더니
He also hired a hundred thousand fighting men from Israel for a hundred talents of silver. He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver. |

어떤 ㅕ하나님의 사람이 아마샤에게 나아와서 이르되 王(왕)이여 이스라엘 軍隊(군대)로 王(왕)과 함께 가게 마옵소서 여호와께서는 이스라엘 곧 온 에브라임 子孫(자손)과 함께 하지
아니하시나니
But a man of God came to him and said, "O king, these troops from Israel must not march with you, for the LORD is not with Israel--not with any of the people of Ephraim. But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim. |

王(왕)이 萬一(만일) 가시거든 힘써 싸우소서 하나님이 王(왕)을 對敵(대적) 앞에 엎드러지게 하시리이다 ㅗ하나님은 能(능)히 돕기도 하시고 能(능)히 敗(패)하게도 하시나이다

Even if you go and fight courageously in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow." But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down. |

아마샤가 하나님의 사람에게 이르되 내가 一百(일백) 달란트를 이스라엘 軍隊(군대)에게 주었으니 어찌할꼬 하나님의 사람이 對答(대답)하되 여호와께서 能(능)히 이보다 많은 것으로 王(왕)에게 주실 수 있나이다
Amaziah asked the man of God, "But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?" The man of God replied, "The LORD can give you much more than that." And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this. |

아마샤가 이에 에브라임에서 自己(자기)에게 나아온 軍隊(군대)를 區別(구별)하여 本(본)곳으로 돌아가게 하였더니 저희 무리가 유다 사람을 甚(심)히 怒(노)하여 奮然(분연)히 本(본)곳으로 돌아갔더라
So Amaziah dismissed the troops who had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home. They were furious with Judah and left for home in a great rage. Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger. |

아마샤가 膽力(담력)을 내어 그 百姓(백성)을 거느리고 ㅛ鹽谷(염곡)에 이르러 ㅜ세일 子孫(자손) 一萬(일만)을 죽이고
Amaziah then marshaled his strength and led his army to the Valley of Salt, where he killed ten thousand men of Seir. And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand. |

유다 子孫(자손)이 또 一萬(일만)을 사로잡아 가지고 바위 꼭대기에 올라가서 거기서 밀쳐 내려뜨려서 그 몸이 부숴지게 하였더라
The army of Judah also captured ten thousand men alive, took them to the top of a cliff and threw them down so that all were dashed to pieces. And other ten thousand left alive did the children of Judah carry away captive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces. |

아마샤가 自己(자기)와 함께 戰場(전장)에 나가지 못하게 하고 돌려 보낸 軍士(군사)들이 ㅠ사마리아에서부터 벧호론까지 유다 城邑(성읍)을 掩襲(엄습)하고 사람 三千(삼천)을 죽이고 物件(물건)을 많이 擄略(노략)하였더라
Meanwhile the troops that Amaziah had sent back and had not allowed to take part in the war raided Judean towns from Samaria to Beth Horon. They killed three thousand people and carried off great quantities of plunder. But the soldiers of the army which Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Bethhoron, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil. |

● 아마샤가 에돔 사람을 屠戮(도륙)하고 돌아올 때에 으세일 子孫(자손)의 偶像(우상)들을 가져다가 自己(자기)의 神(신)으로 세우고 그 앞에 敬拜(경배)하며 焚香(분향)한지라

When Amaziah returned from slaughtering the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the people of Seir. He set them up as his own gods, bowed down to them and burned sacrifices to them. Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them. |

그러므로 여호와께서 아마샤에게 震怒(진노)하사 한 先知者(선지자)를 보내시니 나아가 가로되 이저 百姓(백성)의 神(신)들이 自己(자기) 百姓(백성)을 王(왕)의 손에서 能(능)히 救援(구원)하지 못하였거늘 王(왕)은 어찌하여 그 神(신)들에게 求(구)하나이까 하며

The anger of the LORD burned against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said, "Why do you consult this people's gods, which could not save their own people from your hand?" Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand? |

先知者(선지자)가 오히려 말할 때에 王(왕)이 이르되 우리가 너로 王(왕)의 謀士(모사)를 삼았느냐 그치라 어찌하여 맞으려 하느냐 先知者(선지자)가 그치며 가로되 王(왕)이 이 일을 行(행)하고 나의 警告(경고)를 듣지 아니하니 ㅐ하나님이 王(왕)을 滅(멸)하시기로 決定(결정)하신 줄 아노라 하였더라

While he was still speaking, the king said to him, "Have we appointed you an adviser to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?" So the prophet stopped but said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel." And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel. |

● ㄱ유다 王(왕) 아마샤가 相議(상의)하고 예후의 孫子(손자) 여호아하스의 아들 이스라엘 王(왕) 요아스에게 使者(사자)를 보내어 이르되 오라 서로 對面(대면)하자 한지라
After Amaziah king of Judah consulted his advisers, he sent this challenge to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel: "Come, meet me face to face." Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face. |

이스라엘 王(왕) 요아스가 유다 王(왕) 아마샤에게 보내어 이르되 ㄴ레바논 가시나무가 레바논 柏香木(백향목)에게 보내어 이르기를 네 딸을 내 아들에게 주어 아내를 삼게하라 하였더니 레바논 짐승이 지나가다가 그 가시나무를 짓밟았으니라

But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: "A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, 'Give your daughter to my son in marriage.' Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle underfoot. And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle. |

네가 에돔 사람을 쳤다 하고 ㄷ네 마음이 驕慢(교만)하여 自矜(자긍)하는도다 네 宮(궁)에나 便(편)히 居(거)하라 어찌하여 禍(화)를 自取(자취)하여 너와 유다가 함께 亡(망)하고자 하느냐 하나

You say to yourself that you have defeated Edom, and now you are arrogant and proud. But stay at home! Why ask for trouble and cause your own downfall and that of Judah also?" Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thine heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee? |

아마샤가 듣지 아니하였으니 이는 하나님께로 말미암은 것이라 ㄹ저희가 에돔 神(신)들에게 求(구)하였으므로 그 對敵(대적)의 손에 붙이려 하심이더라
Amaziah, however, would not listen, for God so worked that he might hand them over to Jehoash, because they sought the gods of Edom. But Amaziah would not hear; for it came of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom. |

이스라엘 王(왕) 요아스가 올라와서 유다 王(왕) 아마샤로 더불어 유다의 벧세메스에서 對面(대면)하였더니
So Jehoash king of Israel attacked. He and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth Shemesh in Judah. So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they saw one another in the face, both he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah. |

유다가 이스라엘 앞에서 敗(패)하여 各其(각기) 帳幕(장막)으로 逃亡(도망)한지라
Judah was routed by Israel, and every man fled to his home. And Judah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent. |
23 |
이스라엘 王(왕) 요아스가 벧세메스에서 ㅁ여호아하스의 孫子(손자) 요아스의 아들 유다 王(왕) 아마샤를 사로잡고 예루살렘에 이르러 예루살렘 城璧(성벽)을 ㅂ에브라임 門(문)에서부터 城(성) 모퉁이 門(문)까지 四百(사백) 규빗을 헐고
Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate--a section about six hundred feet long. And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Bethshemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits. |

또 하나님의 殿(전) 안에 ㅅ오벧에돔의 지키는 모든 金(금) 銀(은)과 器皿(기명)과 王宮(왕궁)의 財物(재물)을 取(취)하고 또 사람을 볼모로 잡아가지고 사마리아로 돌아갔더라

He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the temple of God that had been in the care of Obed-Edom, together with the palace treasures and the hostages, and returned to Samaria. And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obededom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria. |

● ㅇ이스라엘 王(왕) 요아하스의 아들 요아스가 죽은 後(후)에도 유다 王(왕) 요아스의 아들 아마샤가 十五年(십오년)을 生存(생존)하였더라
Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel. And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years. |

아마샤의 이 外(외)의 始終(시종) 行蹟(행적)은 유다와 이스라엘 列王記(열왕기)에 記錄(기록)되지 아니하였느냐
As for the other events of Amaziah's reign, from beginning to end, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel? Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel? |

아마샤가 돌이켜 여호와를 버린 後(후)로부터 예루살렘에서 무리가 저를 謀叛(모반)한 故(고)로 저가 라기스로 逃亡(도망)하였더니 謀叛(모반)한 무리가 사람을 라기스로 따라 보내어 저를 거기서 죽이게 하고
From the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD, they conspired against him in Jerusalem and he fled to Lachish, but they sent men after him to Lachish and killed him there. Now after the time that Amaziah did turn away from following the LORD they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there. |

그 屍體(시체)를 말에 실어다가 그 列祖(열조)와 함께 유다 城邑(성읍)에 葬事(장사)하였더라
He was brought back by horse and was buried with his fathers in the City of Judah. And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah. |
