1 아사 王(왕) 三十六年(삼십륙년)에 이스라엘 王(왕) 바아사가 유다를 치러 올라와서 라마를 建築(건축)하여 사람을 유다 王(왕) 아사에게 往來(왕래)하지 못하게 하려한지라

In the thirty-sixth year of Asa's reign Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.

In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

2 아사가 여호와의 殿(전) 곳간과 王宮(왕궁) 곳간의 銀(은), 金(금)을 取(취)하여 다메섹에 居(거)한 아람 王(왕) 벤하닷에게 보내며 가로되

Asa then took the silver and gold out of the treasuries of the LORD'S temple and of his own palace and sent it to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus.

Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent to Benhadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

3 내 父親(부친)과 當身(당신)의 父親(부친) 사이에와 같이 나와 當身(당신) 사이에 約條(약조)하자 내가 當身(당신)에게 銀(은), 金(금)을 보내노니 와서 이스라엘 王(왕) 바아사와 세운 約條(약조)를 깨뜨려서 저로 나를 떠나게 하라 하매

Let there be a treaty between me and you, he said, "as there was between my father and your father. See, I am sending you silver and gold. Now break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so he will withdraw from me."

There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

4 벤하닷이 아사 王(왕)의 말을 듣고 그 軍隊(군대) 長官(장관)들을 보내어 이스라엘 두어 城邑(성읍)을 치되 이욘과 단과 아벨마임과 납달리의 모든 國庫城(국고성)을 쳤더니

Ben-Hadad agreed with King Asa and sent the commanders of his forces against the towns of Israel. They conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim and all the store cities of Naphtali.

And Benhadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abelmaim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.

5 바아사가 듣고 라마 建築(건축)하는 일을 破(파)하여 그 工役(공역)을 그친지라

When Baasha heard this, he stopped building Ramah and abandoned his work.

And it came to pass, when Baasha heard it, that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.

6 아사王(왕)이 온 유다 무리를 거느리고 바아사가 라마를 建築(건축)하던 돌과 材木(재목)을 輸運(수운)하여다가 게바와 미스바를 建築(건축)하였더라

Then King Asa brought all the men of Judah, and they carried away from Ramah the stones and timber Baasha had been using. With them he built up Geba and Mizpah.

Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha was building; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.

7 ● 때에 先見者(선견자) 하나니가 유다 王(왕) 아사에게 나아와서 이르되 王(왕)이 아람 王(왕)을 依支(의지)하고 王(왕)의 하나님 여호와를 依支(의지)하지 아니한 故(고)로 아람 王(왕)의 軍隊(군대)가 王(왕)의 손에서 벗어났나이다

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him: "Because you relied on the king of Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand.

And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.

8 구스 사람과 룹 사람의 軍隊(군대)가 크지 아니하며 말과 兵車(병거)가 甚(심)히 많지 아니하더이까 그러나 王(왕)이 여호와를 依支(의지)한 故(고)로 여호와께서 王(왕)의 손에 붙이셨나이다

Were not the Cushites and Libyans a mighty army with great numbers of chariots and horsemen? Yet when you relied on the LORD, he delivered them into your hand.

Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand.

9 여호와의 눈은 온 땅을 두루 監察(감찰)하사 全心(전심)으로 自己(자기)에게 向(향)하는 者(자)를 爲(위)하여 能力(능력)을 베푸시나니 이 일은 王(왕)이 妄靈(망령)되이 行(행)하였은즉 이 後(후)부터는 王(왕)에게 戰爭(전쟁)이 있으리이다 하매

For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war."

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

10 아사가 怒(노)하여 先見者(선견자)를 獄(옥)에 가두었으니 이는 그 말에 크게 怒(노)하였음이며 그 때에 아사가 또 몇 百姓(백성)을 虐待(학대)하였더라

Asa was angry with the seer because of this; he was so enraged that he put him in prison. At the same time Asa brutally oppressed some of the people.

Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.

11 아사의 始終(시종) 行蹟(행적)은 유다와 이스라엘 列王記(열왕기)에 記錄(기록)되니라

The events of Asa's reign, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

12 아사가 王(왕)이 된지 三十九年(삼십구년)에 그 발이 病(병)들어 甚(심)히 重(중)하나 病(병)이 있을 때에 저가 여호와께 求(구)하지 아니하고 醫員(의원)들에게 求(구)하였더라

In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was afflicted with a disease in his feet. Though his disease was severe, even in his illness he did not seek help from the LORD, but only from the physicians.

And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.

13 아사가 位(위)에 있은지 四十一年(사십일년)에 죽어 그 列祖(열조)와 함께 자매

Then in the forty-first year of his reign Asa died and rested with his fathers.

And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.

14 다윗 城(성)에 自己(자기)를 爲(위)하여 파 두었던 墓室(묘실)에 무리가 葬事(장사)하되 그 屍體(시체)를 法(법)대로 만든 各樣(각양) 香材料(향재료)를 가득히 채운 床(상)에 두고 또 爲(위)하여 많이 焚香(분향)하였더라

They buried him in the tomb that he had cut out for himself in the City of David. They laid him on a bier covered with spices and various blended perfumes, and they made a huge fire in his honor.

And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries' art: and they made a very great burning for him.
