These are the nations the LORD left to test all those Israelites who had not experienced any of the wars in Canaan Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan; |

이스라엘 子孫(자손)의 世代(세대) 中(중)에 아직 戰爭(전쟁)을 알지 못하는 者(자)에게 그것을 가르쳐 알게 하려하사 ㅕ남겨 두신 列國(열국)은
(he did this only to teach warfare to the descendants of the Israelites who had not had previous battle experience): Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof; |

Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath. |

남겨두신 ㅛ이 列國(열국)으로 이스라엘을 試驗(시험)하사 여호와께서 모세로 그들의 列祖(열조)에게 命(명)하신 命令(명령)들을 聽從(청종)하나 알고자 하셨더라

They were left to test the Israelites to see whether they would obey the LORD'S commands, which he had given their forefathers through Moses. And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses. |

이스라엘 子孫(자손)은 마침내 ㅜ가나안 사람과 헷 사람과 아모리 사람과 브리스 사람과 히위 사람과 여부스 사람 사이에 居(거)하여
The Israelites lived among the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites: |

ㅠ그들의 딸들을 取(취)하여 아내를 삼으며 自己(자기) 딸들을 그들의 아들에게 주며 또 그들의 神(신)들을 섬겼더라
They took their daughters in marriage and gave their own daughters to their sons, and served their gods. And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods. |

● 으이스라엘 子孫(자손)이 여호와 目前(목전)에 惡(악)을 行(행)하여 自己(자기)들의 하나님 여호와를 잊어버리고 바알들과 이아세라들을 섬긴지라
The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD; they forgot the LORD their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves. |

여호와께서 ㅐ이스라엘에게 震怒(진노)하사 그들을 메소보다미아 王(왕) ㄱ구산 리사다임의 손에 파셨으므로 이스라엘 子孫(자손)이 구산 리사다임을 八年(팔년)을 섬겼더니
The anger of the LORD burned against Israel so that he sold them into the hands of Cushan-Rishathaim king of Aram Naharaim, to whom the Israelites were subject for eight years. Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years. |

이스라엘 子孫(자손)이 ㄴ여호와께 부르짖으매 여호와께서 그들을 爲(위)하여 한 ㄷ救援者(구원자)를 세워 救援(구원)하게 하시니 그는 곧 갈렙의 아우 그나스의 아들
ㄹ옷니엘이라
But when they cried out to the LORD, he raised up for them a deliverer, Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, who saved them. And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother. |

ㅁ여호와의 神(신)이 그에게 臨(임)하셨으므로 그가 이스라엘 士師(사사)가
되어 나가서 싸울 때에 여호와께서 메소보다미아 王(왕) 구산 리사다임을 그 손에 붙이시매 옷니엘의 손이 구산 리사다임을 이기니라
The Spirit of the LORD came upon him, so that he became Israel's judge and went to war. The LORD gave Cushan-Rishathaim king of Aram into the hands of Othniel, who overpowered him. And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim. |

ㅂ그 땅이 泰平(태평)한지 四十年(사십년)에 그나스의 아들 옷니엘이 죽었더라
So the land had peace for forty years, until Othniel son of Kenaz died. And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died. |
12 |
● ㅅ이스라엘 子孫(자손)이 또 여호와의 目前(목전)에 惡(악)을 行(행)하니라 이스라엘 子孫(자손)이 여호와의 目前(목전)에
惡(악)을 行(행)하므로 여호와께서 ㅇ모압 王(왕) 에글론을 强盛(강성)케 하사 그들을 對敵(대적)하게 하시매
Once again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and because they did this evil the LORD gave Eglon king of Moab power over Israel. And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD. |

에글론이 암몬과 ㅈ아말렉 子孫(자손)들을 모아가지고 와서 이스라엘을 쳐서 ㅊ棕櫚(종려)나무 城邑(성읍)을 占領(점령)한지라
Getting the Ammonites and Amalekites to join him, Eglon came and attacked Israel, and they took possession of the City of Palms. And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees. |

이에 이스라엘 子孫(자손)이 모압 王(왕) 에글론을 十八年(십팔년)을 섬기니라
The Israelites were subject to Eglon king of Moab for eighteen years. So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years. |
15 |
● ㅋ이스라엘 子孫(자손)이 여호와께 부르짖으매 여호와께서 그들을 爲(위)하여 한 救援者(구원자)를 세우셨으니 그는 곧 베냐민 사람 게라의 아들 ㅌ왼손잡이 에훗이라
이스라엘 子孫(자손)이 그를 依託(의탁)하여 모압 王(왕) 에글론에게 貢物(공물)을 바칠 때에
Again the Israelites cried out to the LORD, and he gave them a deliverer--Ehud, a left-handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite. The Israelites sent him with tribute to Eglon king of Moab. But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab. |

에훗이 長(장)이 한 규빗 되는 左右(좌우)에 날선 칼을 만들어 右便(우편) 다리 옷 속에 차고
Now Ehud had made a double-edged sword about a foot and a half long, which he strapped to his right thigh under his clothing. But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh. |
17 |
貢物(공물)을 모압 王(왕) 에글론에게 바쳤는데 에글론은 甚(심)히 비둔(肥鈍)한 者(자)이었더라
He presented the tribute to Eglon king of Moab, who was a very fat man. And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man. |

에훗이 貢物(공물) 바치기를 마친 後(후)에 貢物(공물)을 메고 온 者(자)들을 보내고
After Ehud had presented the tribute, he sent on their way the men who had carried it. And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present. |
19 |
自己(자기)는 길갈 近處(근처) ㅍ돌 뜨는 곳에서부터 돌아와서 가로되 王(왕)이여, 내가 隱密(은밀)한 일을 王(왕)에게 告(고)하려 하나이다 王(왕)이 命(명)하여 從容(종용)케 하라 하매 모셔 선 者(자)들이 다 물러간지라
At the idols near Gilgal he himself turned back and said, "I have a secret message for you, O king." The king said, "Quiet!" And all his attendants left him. But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him. |

에훗이 王(왕)의 앞으로 나아가니 王(왕)은 ㅎ서늘한 다락房(방)에 홀로 앉아 있는 中(중)이라 ㅏ에훗이 가로되 내가 하나님의 命(명)을 받들어 王(왕)에게
告(고)할 일이 있나이다 하매 王(왕)이 그 座席(좌석)에서 일어나니
Ehud then approached him while he was sitting alone in the upper room of his summer palace and said, "I have a message from God for you." As the king rose from his seat, And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat. |

에훗이 왼손으로 右便(우편) 다리에서 칼을 빼어 王(왕)의 몸을 찌르매
Ehud reached with his left hand, drew the sword from his right thigh and plunged it into the king's belly. And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly: |

칼자루도 날을 따라 들어가서 그 끝이 등뒤까지 나갔고 그가 칼을 그 몸에서 빼어내지 아니하였으므로 기름이 칼날에 엉기었더라
Even the handle sank in after the blade, which came out his back. Ehud did not pull the sword out, and the fat closed in over it. And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out. |

에훗이 玄關(현관)에 나와서 다락門(문)들을 닫아 ㅑ잠그니라
Then Ehud went out to the porch; he shut the doors of the upper room behind him and locked them. Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them. |
24 |
● 에훗이 나간 後(후)에 王(왕)의 臣下(신하)들이 와서 다락門(문)이 잠겼음을 보고 가로되 ㅓ王(왕)이 必然(필연) 다락房(방)에서 발을 가리우신다 하고

After he had gone, the servants came and found the doors of the upper room locked. They said, "He must be relieving himself in the inner room of the house." When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber. |

그들이 1)오래 기다려도 王(왕)이 다락門(문)을 열지 아니하는지라 열쇠를 取(취)하여 열고 본즉 自己(자기) 主(주)가 이미 죽어 땅에 엎드러졌더라
1) 히, 부끄러울 때까지
They waited to the point of embarrassment, but when he did not open the doors of the room, they took a key and unlocked them. There they saw their lord fallen to the floor, dead. And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth. |

● 그들의 기다리는 동안에 에훗이 避(피)하여 ㅕ돌 뜨는 곳을 지나 스이라로 逃亡(도망)하니라

While they waited, Ehud got away. He passed by the idols and escaped to Seirah. And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath. |

그가 이르러서는 ㅗ에브라임 山地(산지)에서 ㅛ나팔을 불매 이스라엘 子孫(자손)이 山地(산지)에서 그를 따라 내려오니 에훗이 앞서 가며
When he arrived there, he blew a trumpet in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites went down with him from the hills, with him leading them. And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them. |
28 |
무리에게 이르되 나를 따르라 ㅜ여호와께서 너희 對敵(대적) 모압 사람을 너희의 손에 붙이셨느니라 하매 무리가 에훗을 따라 내려가서 모압 맞은便(편) ㅠ요단江(강)
나루를 잡아 지켜 한 사람도 건너지 못하게 하였고
Follow me, he ordered, "for the LORD has given Moab, your enemy, into your hands." So they followed him down and, taking possession of the fords of the Jordan that led to Moab, they allowed no one to cross over. And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over. |
29 |
그 때에 모압 사람 一萬名(일만명) 假量(가량)을 죽였으니 다 力士(역사)요 勇士(용사)라 한 사람도 避(피)하지 못하였더라
At that time they struck down about ten thousand Moabites, all vigorous and strong; not a man escaped. And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man. |
30 |
그날에 모압 사람이 이스라엘의 手下(수하)에 降服(항복)하매 으그 땅이 八十年(팔십년) 동안 泰平(태평)하였더라

That day Moab was made subject to Israel, and the land had peace for eighty years. So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years. |

● 에훗의 後(후)에 아낫의 아들 이삼갈이 士師(사사)로 있어 ㅐ소 모는 막대기로 블레셋 사람 六百名(육백명)을 죽였고 그도
ㄱ이스라엘을 救援(구원)하였더라
After Ehud came Shamgar son of Anath, who struck down six hundred Philistines with an oxgoad. He too saved Israel. And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel. |
