A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones. A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones. |

ㄱ義人(의인)의 생각은 公直(공직)하여도 惡人(악인)의 圖謀(도모)는 詭譎(궤휼)이니라

惡人(악인)의 말은 ㄴ사람을 엿보아 피를 흘리자 하는 것이어니와 ㄷ正直(정직)한 者(자)의 입은 사람을 救援(구원)하느니라
The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them. The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them. |

ㄹ惡人(악인)은 ㅁ엎드러져서 消滅(소멸)되려니와 ㅂ義人(의인)의 집은 서 있으리라
Wicked men are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous stands firm. The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand. |

사람은 그 智慧(지혜)대로 稱讚(칭찬)을 받으려니와 마음이 悖戾(패려)한 者(자)는 ㅅ蔑視(멸시)를 받으리라

卑賤(비천)히 여김을 받을찌라도 종을 부리는 者(자)는 스스로 높은 체 하고도 飮食(음식)이 乏絶(핍절)한 者(자)보다 나으니라
Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food. He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread. |

ㅇ義人(의인)은 그 六畜(육축)의 生命(생명)을 돌아보나 惡人(악인)의 矜恤(긍휼)은 殘忍(잔인)이니라

ㅈ自己(자기)의 土地(토지)를 耕作(경작)하는 者(자)는 ㅊ먹을 것이 많거니와 ㅋ放蕩(방탕)한 것을 ㅌ따르는 者(자)는 智慧(지혜)가 없느니라
He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment. He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding. |

惡人(악인)은 1)ㅍ不義(불의)의 利(이)를 貪(탐)하나 義人(의인)은 그 뿌리로 말미암아 結實(결실)하느니라

惡人(악인)은 ㅎ입술의 허물로 因(인)하여 그물에 걸려도 ㅏ義人(의인)은 患難(환난)에서 벗어나느니라
An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble. The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble. |

ㅑ사람은 입의 열매로 因(인)하여 福祿(복록)에 足(족)하며 ㅓ그 손의 行(행)하는 대로 自己(자기)가 받느니라
From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands rewards him. A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him. |

ㅕ미련한 者(자)는 自己(자기) 行爲(행위)를 바른 줄로 여기나 智慧(지혜)로운 者(자)는 眷顧(권고)를 듣느니라
The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise. |

ㅗ미련한 者(자)는 忿怒(분노)를 當場(당장)에 나타내거니와 슬기로운 者(자)는 ㅊ羞辱(수욕)을 참느니라
A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame. |

ㅛ眞理(진리)를 말하는 者(자)는 義(의)를 나타내어도
ㅜ거짓 證人(증인)은 詭譎(궤휼)을 말하느니라
A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies. He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit. |

ㅠ或(혹)은 칼로 찌름 같이 함부로 말하거니와 智慧(지혜)로운 者(자)의 혀는 으良藥(양약) 같으니라
Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. |

眞實(진실)한 입술은 永遠(영원)히 保存(보존)되거니와 이거짓 혀는 눈 깜짝일 동안만 있을 뿐이니라
Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment. |

ㅐ惡(악)을 꾀하는 者(자)의 마음에는 詭譎(궤휼)이 있고 和平(화평)을 論(논)하는 者(자)에게는 喜樂(희락)이 있느니라

ㄱ義人(의인)에게는 아무 災殃(재앙)도 臨(임)하지 아니하려니와 惡人(악인)에게는 殃禍(앙화)가 가득하리라
No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked have their fill of trouble. There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief. |

ㄴ거짓 입술은 ㄷ여호와께 미움을 받아도 ㄹ眞實(진실)히 行(행)하는 者(자)는 그의 기뻐하심을 받느니라
The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful. Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight. |

ㅁ슬기로운 者(자)는 知識(지식)을 감추어 두어도 미련한 者(자)의 마음은 미련한 것을 傳播(전파)하느니라
A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the heart of fools blurts out folly. A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness. |

ㅂ부지런한 者(자)의 손은 사람을 다스리게 되어도 게으른 者(자)는 ㅅ부림을 받느니라
Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor. The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute. |
25 |
ㅇ근심이 사람의 마음에 있으면 그것으로 煩惱(번뇌)케 하나 ㅈ善(선)한 말은 그것을 즐겁게 하느니라
An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up. Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad. |

義人(의인)은 그 이웃의 引導者(인도자)가 되나 惡人(악인)의 所行(소행)은 自己(자기)를 迷惑(미혹)하게 하느니라
A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them. |

ㅊ게으른 者(자)는 그 2)잡을 것도 사냥하지 아니하나니 3)사람의 富貴(부귀)는 부지런한 것이니라
