사람은 ㅎ입의 열매로 因(인)하여 福祿(복록)을 누리거니와 마음이 詭詐(궤사)한 者(자)는 ㅏ强暴(강포)를 當(당)하느니라
From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful have a craving for violence. A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. |

ㅑ입을 지키는 者(자)는 그 生命(생명)을 保全(보전)하나 ㅓ입술을 크게 벌리는 者(자)에게는 ㅕ滅亡(멸망)이 오느니라
He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. |

ㅗ게으른 者(자)는 마음으로 願(원)하여도 얻지 못하나 부지런한 者(자)의 마음은 ㅛ豊足(풍족)함을 얻느니라
The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied. The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. |

義人(의인)은 거짓말을 미워하나 惡人(악인)은 行爲(행위)가 凶惡(흉악)하여 부끄러운 데 이르느니라
The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace. A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. |

ㅜ義(의)는 行實(행실)이 ㅠ正直(정직)한 者(자)를 保護(보호)하고 惡(악)은 罪人(죄인)을 敗亡(패망)케 하느니라
Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner. Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner. |

으스스로 富(부)1)한체 하여도 아무 것도 없는 者(자)가 있고 이스스로 가난1)한체 하여도 財物(재물)이 많은 者(자)가
있느니라
One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth. There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches. |

사람의 財物(재물)이 그 生命(생명)을 贖(속)할 수는 있으나 가난한 者(자)는 ㅐ脅迫(협박)을 받을 일이 없느니라

A man's riches may ransom his life, but a poor man hears no threat. The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke. |

ㄱ義人(의인)의 빛은 환하게
빛나고 惡人(악인)의 ㄴ燈(등)불은 꺼지느니라
The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out. The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. |

ㄷ驕慢(교만)에서는 다툼만 일어날 뿐이라 勸勉(권면)을 듣는 者(자)는 智慧(지혜)가 있느니라

Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. |

ㄹ妄靈(망령)되이 얻은 財物(재물)은 줄어가고 손으로 모은 것은 늘어가느니라
Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow. Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase. |

所望(소망)이 더디 이루게 되면 그것이 마음을 傷(상)하게 하나니 ㅁ所願(소원)이 이루는 것은 곧 ㅂ生命(생명)나무니라
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. |

ㅅ말씀을 ㅇ蔑視(멸시)하는 者(자)는 敗亡(패망)을 이루고 誡命(계명)을 두려워하는 者(자)는 ㅈ賞(상)을 얻느니라
He who scorns instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command is rewarded. Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded. |

智慧(지혜) 있는 者(자)의 敎訓(교훈)은 ㅊ生命(생명)의 샘이라 사람으로 ㅋ死亡(사망)의 그물을 벗어나게
하느니라
The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death. The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. |

ㅌ善(선)한 智慧(지혜)는 ㅍ恩惠(은혜)를 베푸나 詭詐(궤사)한 者(자)의 길은 險(험)하니라
Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard. Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard. |

ㅎ무릇 슬기로운 者(자)는 知識(지식)으로 行(행)하여도 ㅏ미련한 者(자)는 自己(자기)의 미련한 것을 나타내느니라
Every prudent man acts out of knowledge, but a fool exposes his folly. Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly. |

惡(악)한 使者(사자)는 災殃(재앙)에 빠져도 ㅑ忠誠(충성)된 使臣(사신)은 良藥(양약)이 되느니라
A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy brings healing. A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health. |

ㅓ訓戒(훈계)를 저버리는 者(자)에게는 窮乏(궁핍)과 ㅊ羞辱(수욕)이 이르거니와 ㅕ警戒(경계)를 지키는 者(자)는 尊榮(존영)을 얻느니라
He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored. Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. |

ㅗ所願(소원)을 成就(성취)하면 마음에 달아도 미련한 者(자)는 惡(악)에서 떠나기를 싫어하느니라

A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil. The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil. |

智慧(지혜)로운 者(자)와 同行(동행)하면 智慧(지혜)를 얻고 미련한 者(자)와 사귀면 害(해)를 받느니라
He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. |

ㅛ災殃(재앙)은 罪人(죄인)을 따르고 ㅜ善(선)한 報應(보응)은 義人(의인)에게 이르느니라
Misfortune pursues the sinner, but prosperity is the reward of the righteous. Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed. |

ㅠ善人(선인)은 그 産業(산업)을 子子(자자) 孫孫(손손)에게 끼쳐도 으罪人(죄인)의 財物(재물)은 義人(의인)을 爲(위)하여 쌓이느니라
A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous. A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. |

이가난한 者(자)는 밭을 耕作(경작)하므로 糧食(양식)이 많아지거늘 或(혹) ㅐ不義(불의)로 因(인)하여 家産(가산)을 蕩敗(탕패)하는 者(자)가 있느니라
A poor man's field may produce abundant food, but injustice sweeps it away. Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment. |

ㄱ楚撻(초달)을 차마 못하는 者(자)는 그 子息(자식)을 미워함이라 子息(자식)을 사랑하는 者(자)는 勤實(근실)히 懲戒(징계)하느니라
He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him. He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. |

ㄴ義人(의인)은 飽食(포식)하여도 惡人(악인)의 배는 주리느니라

The righteous eat to their hearts' content, but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry. The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want. |
