으슬기로운 者(자)는 災殃(재앙)을 보면 숨어 避(피)하여도 어리석은 者(자)들은 나아가다가 害(해)를 받느니라
A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it. A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. |

謙遜(겸손)과 여호와를 敬畏(경외)함의 報應(보응)은 이財物(재물)과 榮光(영광)과 生命(생명)이니라
Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life. By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life. |

ㅐ悖逆(패역)한 者(자)의 길에는 가시와 올무가
있거니와 ㄱ靈魂(영혼)을 지키는 者(자)는 이를 멀리 하느니라
In the paths of the wicked lie thorns and snares, but he who guards his soul stays far from them. Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. |

ㄴ마땅히 行(행)할 길을 아이에게 가르치라 그리하면 늙어도 그것을 떠나지 아니하리라
Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. |

ㄷ富者(부자)는 가난한 者(자)를 主管(주관)하고 빚진 者(자)는 債主(채주)의

He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed. He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail. |

ㅂ善(선)한 눈을 가진 者(자)는 福(복)을 받으리니 이는 ㅅ糧食(양식)을 가난한 者(자)에게 줌이니라
A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor. He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor. |

ㅇ倨慢(거만)한 者(자)를 쫓아내면 ㅈ다툼이 쉬고 ㅊ싸움과 ㅊ羞辱(수욕)이 그치느니라
Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended. Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease. |

ㅋ마음의 淨潔(정결)을 思慕(사모)하는 者(자)의 ㅌ입술에는 德(덕)이 있으므로 ㅍ임금이 그의 親舊(친구)가 되느니라
He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend. He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend. |

여호와께서는 知識(지식)있는 者(자)를 그 눈으로 지키시나 ㅎ詭詐(궤사)한 者(자)의 말은 敗(패)하게 하시느니라
The eyes of the LORD keep watch over knowledge, but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful. The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor. |

ㅏ게으른 者(자)는 말하기를 獅子(사자)가 밖에 있은즉 내가 나가면 거리에서 찢기겠다 하느니라

The sluggard says, "There is a lion outside!" or, "I will be murdered in the streets!" The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets. |

ㅑ淫女(음녀)의 입은 ㅓ깊은 陷穽(함정)이라 ㅕ여호와의 怒(노)를 當(당)한 者(자)는 거기 빠지리라
The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; he who is under the LORD'S wrath will fall into it. The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein. |

아이의 마음에는 미련한 것이 얽혔으나 ㅗ懲戒(징계)하는 채찍이 이를 멀리 쫓아내리라

● ㅜ너는 귀를 기울여 ㅠ智慧(지혜)있는 者(자)의 말씀을 들으며 으내 知識(지식)에 마음을 둘찌어다
Pay attention and listen to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge. |

이것을 네 속에 保存(보존)하며 네 입술에 있게 함이 아름다우니라
for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips. For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips. |

내가 너로 여호와를 依賴(의뢰)하게 하려 하여 이것을 오늘 特別(특별)히 네게 알게 하였노니
So that your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you. That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee. |

Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court, Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: |

大抵(대저) ㄹ여호와께서 伸寃(신원)하여 주시고 또 그를 擄略(노략)하는 者(자)의 生命(생명)을 빼앗으시리라
for the LORD will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them. For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them. |

怒(노)를 품는 者(자)와 사귀지 말며 鬱憤(울분)한 者(자)와 同行(동행)하지 말지니
Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: |

그 行爲(행위)를 本(본)받아서 네 靈魂(영혼)을 올무에 빠칠까 두려움이니라
or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared. Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul. |

너는 사람으로 더불어 ㅁ손을 잡지 말며 남의 빚에 保證(보증)이 되지 말라

Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts; Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts. |

萬一(만일) 갚을 것이 없으면 ㅂ네 누운 寢床(침상)도 빼앗길 것이라 네가 어찌 그리하겠느냐
if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you. If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee? |

네 先祖(선조)의 세운 ㅅ옛 地界石(지계석)을 옮기지 말찌니라
Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your forefathers. Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set. |

네가 自己(자기) 事業(사업)에 勤實(근실)한 사람을 보았느냐 이러한 사람은 ㅇ王(왕) 앞에 설 것이요 賤(천)한 者(자) 앞에 서지 아니하리라
Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men. Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. |
