1 솔로몬의 箴言(잠언)이라
智慧(지혜)로운 아들은 아비로 기쁘게 하거니와 미련한 아들은 어미의 근심이니라

The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.

2 不義(불의)의 財物(재물)은 無益(무익)하여도 義理(의리)는 죽음에서 건지느니라

Ill-gotten treasures are of no value, but righteousness delivers from death.

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

3 여호와께서 義人(의인)의 靈魂(영혼)은 주리지 않게 하시나 惡人(악인)의 所欲(소욕)은 물리치시느니라

The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.

The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

4 손을 게으르게 놀리는 者(자)는 가난하게 되고 손이 부지런한 者(자)는 富(부)하게 되느니라

Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

5 여름에 거두는 者(자)는 智慧(지혜)로운 아들이나 秋收(추수) 때에 자는 者(자)는 부끄러움을 끼치는 아들이니라

He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

6 義人(의인)의 머리에는 福(복)이 臨(임)하거늘 惡人(악인)의 입은 1)毒(독)을 머금었느니라
시69:7 옵1:10     1) 독이 가리워 있느니라

Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.

Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

7 義人(의인)을 記念(기념)할 때에는 稱讚(칭찬)하거니와 惡人(악인)의 이름은 썩으리라

The memory of the righteous will be a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot.

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

8 마음이 智慧(지혜)로운 者(자)는 命令(명령)을 받거니와 입이 미련한 者(자)는 敗亡(패망)하리라

The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.

The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

9 바른 길로 行(행)하는 者(자)는 걸음이 平安(평안)하려니와 굽은 길로 行(행)하는 者(자)는 드러나리라

The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.

He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

10 눈짓하는 者(자)는 근심을 끼치고 입이 미련한 者(자)는 敗亡(패망)하느니라

He who winks maliciously causes grief, and a chattering fool comes to ruin.

He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

11 義人(의인)의 입은 生命(생명)의 샘이라도 惡人(악인)의 입은 毒(독)을 머금었느니라

The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.

The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

12 미움은 다툼을 일으켜도 사랑은 모든 허물을 가리우느니라

Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.

Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

13 明哲(명철)한 者(자)의 입술에는 智慧(지혜)가 있어도 智慧(지혜) 없는 者(자)의 등을 爲(위)하여는 채찍이 있느니라

Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment.

In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

14 智慧(지혜)로운 者(자)는 知識(지식)을 看直(간직)하거니와 미련한 者(자)의 입은 滅亡(멸망)에 가까우니라

Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.

Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

15 富者(부자)의 財物(재물)은 그의 堅固(견고)한 城(성)이요 가난한 者(자)의 窮乏(궁핍)은 그의 敗亡(패망)이니라

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city, but poverty is the ruin of the poor.

The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16 義人(의인)의 受苦(수고)는 生命(생명)에 이르고 惡人(악인)의 所得(소득)은 罪(죄)에 이르느니라

The wages of the righteous bring them life, but the income of the wicked brings them punishment.

The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

17 訓戒(훈계)를 지키는 者(자)는 生命(생명)길로 行(행)하여도 懲戒(징계)를 버리는 者(자)는 그릇 가느니라

He who heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.

He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

18 미워함을 감추는 者(자)는 거짓의 입술을 가진 者(자)요 讒訴(참소)하는 者(자)는 미련한 者(자)니라

He who conceals his hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

19 말이 많으면 허물을 免(면)키 어려우나 그 입술을 制馭(제어)하는 者(자)는 智慧(지혜)가 있느니라

When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

20 義人(의인)의 혀는 天銀(천은)과 같거니와 惡人(악인)의 마음은 價値(가치)가 적으니라

The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value.

The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

21 義人(의인)의 입술은 여러 사람을 敎育(교육)하나 미련한 者(자)는 知識(지식)이 없으므로 죽느니라

The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of judgment.

The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

22 여호와께서 福(복)을 주시므로 사람으로 富(부)하게 2)하시고 근심을 兼(겸)하여 주지 아니하시느니라
창24:35 창26:12 신8:18 시127:2     2) 되나니 수고함으로 더하지 못하느니라

The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

23 미련한 者(자)는 行惡(행악)으로 樂(낙)을 삼는 것 같이 明哲(명철)한 者(자)는 智慧(지혜)로 樂(낙)을 삼느니라

A fool finds pleasure in evil conduct, but a man of understanding delights in wisdom.

It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

24 惡人(악인)에게는 그의 두려워하는 것이 臨(임)하거니와 義人(의인)은 그 願(원)하는 것이 이루어지느니라

What the wicked dreads will overtake him; what the righteous desire will be granted.

The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25 회리바람이 지나가면 惡人(악인)은 없어져도 義人(의인)은 永遠(영원)한 基礎(기초) 같으니라

When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.

As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

26 게으른 者(자)는 그 부리는 사람에게 마치 이에 醋(초) 같고 눈에 煙氣(연기) 같으니라

As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is a sluggard to those who send him.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

27 여호와를 敬畏(경외)하면 長壽(장수)하느니라 그러나 惡人(악인)의 年歲(연세)는 짧아지느니라

The fear of the LORD adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 義人(의인)의 所望(소망)은 즐거움을 이루어도 惡人(악인)의 所望(소망)은 끊어지느니라

The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29 여호와의 道(도)가 正直(정직)한 者(자)에게는 山城(산성)이요 行惡(행악)하는 者(자)에게는 滅亡(멸망)이니라

The way of the LORD is a refuge for the righteous, but it is the ruin of those who do evil.

The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

30 義人(의인)은 永永(영영)히 移動(이동)되지 아니하여도 惡人(악인)은 땅에 居(거)하지 못하게 되느니라

The righteous will never be uprooted, but the wicked will not remain in the land.

The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

31 義人(의인)의 입은 智慧(지혜)를 내어도 悖逆(패역)한 혀는 베임을 當(당)할 것이니라

The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be cut out.

The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

32 義人(의인)의 입술은 기쁘게 할 것을 알거늘 惡人(악인)의 입은 悖逆(패역)을 말하느니라

The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse. PRO
