An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment. Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. |

미련한 者(자)는 明哲(명철)을 기뻐하지 아니하고 自己(자기)의 ㅓ意思(의사)를 드러내기만 기뻐하느니라
A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. |

惡(악)한 者(자)가 이를 때에는 蔑視(멸시)도 따라오고 부끄러운 것이 이를 때에는 凌辱(능욕)도 함께 오느니라
When wickedness comes, so does contempt, and with shame comes disgrace. When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach. |

明哲(명철)한 사람의 입의 말은 ㅕ깊은 물과 같고 智慧(지혜)의 샘은 솟쳐 흐르는 내와 같으니라

ㅗ惡人(악인)을 斗護(두호)하는 것과 裁判(재판)할 때에 ㅛ義人(의인)을 抑鬱(억울)하게 하는 것이 善(선)하지
아니하니라
It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the innocent of justice. It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment. |

미련한 者(자)의 입술은 다툼을 일으키고 그 입은 ㅜ매를 自請(자청)하느니라

A fool's lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating. A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes. |

ㅠ미련한 者(자)의 입은 그의 滅亡(멸망)이 되고 그 입술은 그의 靈魂(영혼)의 그물이 되느니라
A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul. A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. |

으남의 말하기를 좋아하는 者(자)의 말은 別食(별식)과 같아서 이뱃 속 깊은 데로 내려가느니라
The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. |

自己(자기)의 일을 게을리 하는 者(자)는 ㅐ敗家(패가)하는 者(자)의 兄弟(형제)니라

ㄱ여호와의 이름은 ㄴ堅固(견고)한 望臺(망대)라 義人(의인)은 그리로 달려가서 ㄷ安全(안전)함을 얻느니라
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. |

ㄹ富者(부자)의 財物(재물)은 그의 堅固(견고)한 城(성)이라 그가 높은 城壁(성벽)같이 여기느니라

ㅁ사람의 마음의 驕慢(교만)은 滅亡(멸망)의 先鋒(선봉)이요 ㅂ謙遜(겸손)은 尊貴(존귀)의 앞잡이니라
Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility. |

ㅅ事緣(사연)을 듣기 前(전)에 對答(대답)하는 者(자)는 미련하여 辱(욕)을 當(당)하느니라

사람의 心靈(심령)은 그 病(병)을 能(능)히 이기려니와 ㅇ心靈(심령)이 傷(상)하면 그것을 누가 1)일으키겠느냐
A man's spirit sustains him in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear? The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? |

明哲(명철)한 者(자)의 마음은 知識(지식)을 얻고 智慧(지혜)로운 者(자)의 귀는 知識(지식)을 求(구)하느니라
The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out. The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. |

ㅈ膳物(선물)은 그 사람의 길을 너그럽게 하며 또 尊貴(존귀)한 者(자)의 앞으로 그를 引導(인도)하느니라
A gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great. A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. |

訟事(송사)에 原告(원고)의 말이 바른 것 같으나 그 2)被告(피고)가 와서 밝히느니라
2) 이, 이웃
The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him. He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him. |

ㅊ제비 뽑는 것은 다툼을 그치게 하여 强(강)한 者(자) 사이에 解決(해결)케 하느니라

Casting the lot settles disputes and keeps strong opponents apart. The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty. |

怒(노)엽게 한 兄弟(형제)와 和睦(화목)하기가 堅固(견고)한 城(성)을 取(취)하기 보다 어려운즉 이러한 다툼은 山城(산성) 門(문)빗장 같으니라
An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city, and disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel. A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle. |

ㅋ사람은 입에서 나오는 열매로 하여 배가 부르게 되나니 곧 그 입술에서 나는 것으로하여 滿足(만족)케 되느니라

ㅌ죽고 사는 것이 혀의 權勢(권세)에 달렸나니 혀를 쓰기 좋아하는 者(자)는 그 열매를 먹으리라
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. |

ㅍ아내를 얻는 者(자)는 ㅎ福(복)을 얻고 ㅏ여호와께 ㅑ恩寵(은총)을 받는 者(자)니라
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD. |

가난한 者(자)는 懇切(간절)한 말로 求(구)하여도 ㅓ富者(부자)는 嚴(엄)한 말로 對答(대답)하느니라
A poor man pleads for mercy, but a rich man answers harshly. The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly. |

3)많은 親舊(친구)를 얻는 者(자)는 害(해)를 당하게 되거니와 어떤 親舊(친구)는 ㅕ兄弟(형제)보다 親密(친밀)하니라

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. |
