● 일을 ㅐ숨기는 것은 하나님의 榮華(영화)요 ㄱ일을 살피는 것은 王(왕)의 榮華(영화)니라
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter. |

하늘의 높음과 땅의 깊음
같이 王(왕)의 마음은 ㄴ헤아릴 수 없느니라

As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable. The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable. |

ㄷ銀(은)에서 찌끼를 除(제)하라 그리하면 ㄹ匠色(장색)의
쓸만한 그릇이 나올 것이요
Remove the dross from the silver, and out comes material for the silversmith; Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer. |

ㅁ王(왕) 앞에서 惡(악)한 者(자)를 除(제)하라 그리하면 그 ㅂ位(위)가
義(의)로 말미암아 堅固(견고)히 서리라
remove the wicked from the king's presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness. Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness. |

王(왕) 앞에서 스스로 높은 체 하지말며 大人(대인)의 자리에 서지 말라
Do not exalt yourself in the king's presence, and do not claim a place among great men; Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men: |

이는 ㅅ사람이 너더러 이리로 올라오라 하는 것이 ㅇ네 눈에 보이는 貴人(귀인) 앞에서 저리로 내려가라 하는 것보다 나음이니라
it is better for him to say to you, "Come up here," than for him to humiliate you before a nobleman. What you have seen with your eyes For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen. |

ㅈ너는 急遽(급거)히 나가서 다투지 말라 마침내 네가 이웃에게 辱(욕)을 보게 될 때에 네가 어찌 할 줄을 알지 못할까 두려우니라
do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame? Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame. |

ㅊ너는 이웃과 다투거든 辯論(변론)만 하고 남의 隱密(은밀)한 일을 漏洩(누설)하지 말라

If you argue your case with a neighbor, do not betray another man's confidence, Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another: |

듣는 者(자)가 너를 꾸짖을 터이요 또 ㅊ羞辱(수욕)이 네게서 떠나지 아니할까 두려우니라
or he who hears it may shame you and you will never lose your bad reputation. Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away. |

ㅋ境遇(경우)에 合當(합당)한 말은 아로새긴 銀(은) 錚盤(쟁반)에 金(금)사과니라
A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. |

슬기로운 者(자)의 責望(책망)은 ㅌ聽從(청종)하는 귀에 ㅍ金(금)고리와 精金(정금) 粧飾(장식)이니라
Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man's rebuke to a listening ear. As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear. |

ㅎ忠誠(충성)된 使者(사자)는 그를 보낸 이에게 마치 秋收(추수)하는 날에 얼음 冷水(냉수)같아서 能(능)히 그 主人(주인)의 마음을 시원케 하느니라

Like the coolness of snow at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the spirit of his masters. As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters. |

膳物(선물)한다고 ㅏ거짓 자랑하는 者(자)는 ㅑ비 없는 구름과 바람 같으니라
Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of gifts he does not give. Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain. |

ㅓ오래 참으면 官員(관원)이 그 말을 容納(용납)하나니 부드러운 혀는 뼈를 꺾느니라
Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone. By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone. |

너는 ㅕ꿀을 만나거든 ㅗ足(족)하리만큼 먹으라 過食(과식)하므로 吐(토)할까 두려우니라
If you find honey, eat just enough--too much of it, and you will vomit. Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it. |

너는 이웃집에 자주 다니지 말라 그가 너를 싫어하며 미워할까 두려우니라
Seldom set foot in your neighbor's house--too much of you, and he will hate you. Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee. |

그 ㅛ이웃을 쳐서 거짓 證據(증거)하는 사람은 방망이요 ㅜ칼이요 뾰족한 살이니라
Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is the man who gives false testimony against his neighbor. A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow. |

患難(환난)날에 眞實(진실)치 못한 者(자)를 依賴(의뢰)하는 依賴(의뢰)는 부러진 이와 違骨(위골)된 발 같으니라
Like a bad tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in times of trouble. Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. |

ㅠ마음이 傷(상)한 者(자)에게 노래하는 것은 추운 날에 옷을 벗음 같고 쏘다 위에

Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on soda, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart. As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart. |

If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: |

그리하는 것은 핀 이숯으로 그의 머리에 놓는 것과 一般(일반)이요 여호와께서는 네게 賞(상)을 주시리라

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you. For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee. |

北風(북풍)이 비를 일으킴 같이 讒訴(참소)하는 혀는 사람의 얼굴에 忿(분)을 일으키느니라
As a north wind brings rain, so a sly tongue brings angry looks. The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue. |

다투는 女人(여인)과 함께 큰 집에서 사는 것보다 1)ㅐ움막에서 혼자 사는 것이 나으니라

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife. It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house. |

ㄱ먼 땅에서 오는 좋은 奇別(기별)은 ㄴ목마른 사람에게 冷水(냉수) 같으니라
Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land. As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. |

義人(의인)이 惡人(악인) 앞에 屈伏(굴복)하는 것은 ㄷ우물의 흐리어짐과 샘의 더러워 짐 같으니라
Like a muddied spring or a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked. A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring. |

ㄹ꿀을 많이 먹는 것이 좋지 못하고 ㅁ自己(자기)의 榮譽(영예)를 求(구)하는 것이 헛되니라
It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable to seek one's own honor. It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory. |

ㅂ自己(자기)의 마음을 制馭(제어)하지 아니하는 者(자)는 ㅅ城邑(성읍)이 무너지고 城壁(성벽)이 없는 것 같으니라
Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control. He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. |
