1 그 즈음에 또 큰 무리가 있어 먹을 것이 없는지라 예수께서 弟子(제자)들을 불러 이르시되

During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said,

In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,

2 내가 무리를 불쌍히 여기노라 저희가 나와 함께 있은지 이미 사흘이매 먹을 것이 없도다

I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat.

I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:

3 萬一(만일) 내가 저희를 굶겨 집으로 보내면 길에서 氣盡(기진)하리라 그 中(중)에는 멀리서 온 사람도 있느니라

If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance."

And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.

4 弟子(제자)들이 對答(대답)하되 이 曠野(광야)에서 어디서 떡을 얻어 이 사람들로 배부르게 할 수 있으리이까

His disciples answered, "But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?"

And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

5 예수께서 물으시되 너희에게 떡 몇箇(개)나 있느냐 가로되 일곱이로소이다 하거늘

How many loaves do you have? Jesus asked. "Seven," they replied.

And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

6 예수께서 무리를 命(명)하사 땅에 1)앉게 하시고 떡 일곱 箇(개)를 가지사 祝辭(축사)하시고 떼어 弟子(제자)들에게 주어 그 앞에 놓게 하시니 弟子(제자)들이 무리 앞에 놓더라

He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people, and they did so.

And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.

7 또 작은 생선 두어 마리가 있는지라 이에 祝福(축복)하시고 命(명)하사 이것도 그 앞에 놓게 하시니

They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them.

And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

8 배불리 먹고 남은 조각 일곱 광주리를 거두었으며

The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

9 사람은 約(약) 四千(사천) 名(명)이었더라 예수께서 저희를 흩어 보내시고

About four thousand men were present. And having sent them away,

And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

10 곧 弟子(제자)들과 함께 배에 오르사 달마누다 地方(지방)으로 가시니라

he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the region of Dalmanutha.

And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

11 바리새人(인)들이 나와서 예수께 詰難(힐난)하며 그를 試驗(시험)하여 하늘로서 오는 標蹟(표적)을 求(구)하거늘

The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven.

And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

12 예수께서 마음 속에 깊이 歎息(탄식)하시며 가라사대 어찌하여 이 世代(세대)2)標蹟(표적)을 求(구)하느냐 내가 眞實(진실)로 너희에게 이르노니 이 世代(세대)에게 2)標蹟(표적)을 주시지 아니하리라 하시고
요11:33 막7:34     2) 혹 이적

He sighed deeply and said, "Why does this generation ask for a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, no sign will be given to it."

And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

13 저희를 떠나 다시 배에 올라 건너便(편)으로 가시니라

Then he left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.

And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.

14 ● 弟子(제자)들이 떡 가져 오기를 잊었으매 배에 떡 한 箇(개)밖에 저희에게 없더라

The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.

Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

15 예수께서 警戒(경계)하여 가라사대 삼가 바리새人(인)들의 누룩헤롯의 누룩注意(주의)하라 하신대

Be careful, Jesus warned them. "Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod."

And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

16 弟子(제자)들이 서로 議論(의논)하기를 3)이는 우리에게 떡이 없음이로다 하거늘
    3) 혹 우리에게 떡이 없도다

They discussed this with one another and said, "It is because we have no bread."

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

17 예수께서 아시고 이르시되 너희가 어찌 떡이 없음으로 議論(의논)하느냐 아직도 알지 못하며 깨닫지 못하느냐 너희 마음이 鈍(둔)하냐

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?

And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?

18 너희가 눈이 있어도 보지 못하며 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하느냐 또 記憶(기억)지 못하느냐

Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember?

Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19 내가 떡 다섯 箇(개)를 五千(오천) 名(명)에게 떼어 줄 때에 조각 몇 바구니를 거두었더냐 가로되 열 둘이니이다

When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?" "Twelve," they replied.

When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

20 또 일곱 箇(개)를 四千(사천) 名(명)에게 떼어줄 때에 조각 몇광주리를 거두었더냐 가로되 일곱이니이다

And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up? They answered, "Seven."

And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21 가라사대 아직도 깨닫지 못하느냐 하시니라

He said to them, "Do you still not understand?"

And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

22 벳새다에 이르매 사람들이 소경 하나를 데리고 예수께 나아와 손 대시기를 求(구)하거늘

They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.

And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 예수께서 소경의 손을 붙드시고 마을 밖으로 데리고 나가사 눈에 침을 뱉으시며 그에게 按手(안수)하시고 무엇이 보이느냐 물으시니

He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?"

And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

24 우러러보며 가로되 사람들이 보이나이다 나무 같은 것들의 걸어 가는 것을 보나이다 하거늘

He looked up and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking around."

And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

25 이에 그 눈에 다시 按手(안수)하시매 저가 注目(주목)하여 보더니 나아서 萬物(만물)밝히 보는지라

Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

26 예수께서 그 사람을 집으로 보내시며 가라사대 마을에도 들어가지 말라 하시니라

Jesus sent him home, saying, "Don't go into the village."

And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

27 예수와 弟子(제자)들이 가이사랴 빌립보 여러 마을로 나가실쌔 路中(노중)에서 弟子(제자)들에게 물어 가라사대 사람들이 나를 누구라고 하느냐

Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, "Who do people say I am?"

And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

28 여짜와 가로되 洗禮(세례) 요한이라 하고 더러는 엘리야 더러는 先知者(선지자) 中(중)의 하나라 하나이다

They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets."

And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

29 또 물으시되 너희는 나를 누구라 하느냐 베드로가 對答(대답)하여 가로되 主(주)는 그리스도시니이다 하매

But what about you? he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ."

And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

30 이에 自己(자기)의 일을 아무에게도 말하지 말라 警戒(경계)하시고

Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.

And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

31 人子(인자)가 많은 苦難(고난)을 받고 長老(장로)들과 大祭司長(대제사장)들과 書記官(서기관)들에게 버린바 되어 죽임을 當(당)하고 사흘만에 살아나야 할 것을 비로소 저희에게 가르치시되

He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.

And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

32 드러내놓고 이 말씀을 하시니 베드로가 예수를 붙들고 諫(간)하매

He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

33 예수께서 돌이키사 弟子(제자)들을 보시며 베드로를 꾸짖어 가라사대 사단아 내 뒤로 물러가라 네가 하나님의 일을 생각지 아니하고 도리어 사람의 일을 생각하는도다 하시고

But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."

But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

34 무리와 弟子(제자)들을 불러 이르시되 아무든지 나를 따라 오려거든 自己(자기)를 否認(부인)하고 自己(자기) 十字架(십자가)를 지고 나를 좇을 것이니라

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35 누구든지 제 목숨을 救援(구원)코자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나와 福音(복음)을 爲(위)하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 救援(구원)하리라

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

36 사람이 萬一(만일) 온 天下(천하)를 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 有益(유익)하리요

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37 사람이 무엇을 주고 제 목숨을 바꾸겠느냐

Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38 누구든지 이 淫亂(음란)하고 罪(죄) 많은 世代(세대)에서 나와 내 말을 부끄러워하면 人子(인자)아버지榮光(영광)으로 거룩한 天使(천사)들과 함께 올 때에 그사람을 부끄러워하리라

If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
