When Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons, "Why do you just keep looking at each other?" Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another? |

He continued, "I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there and buy some for us, so that we may live and not die." And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die. |

요셉의 兄(형) 十人(십인)이 애굽에서 穀食(곡식)을 사려고 내려 갔으나
Then ten of Joseph's brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt. And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt. |

야곱이 으요셉의 아우 베냐민을 그 兄(형)들과 함께 보내지 아니하였으니 이는 그의 말이 이災難(재난)이 그에게 미칠까 두렵다 함이었더라
But Jacob did not send Benjamin, Joseph's brother, with the others, because he was afraid that harm might come to him. But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him. |

이스라엘의 아들들이 糧食(양식) 사러간 者(자) 中(중)에 있으니 가나안 땅에 饑饉(기근)이 있음이라
So Israel's sons were among those who went to buy grain, for the famine was in the land of Canaan also. And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan. |

때에 요셉이 나라의 總理(총리)로서 그 땅 ㅐ모든 百姓(백성)에게 팔더니 요셉의 ㄱ兄(형)들이 와서 그 앞에서 땅에 엎드려 절하매
Now Joseph was the governor of the land, the one who sold grain to all its people. So when Joseph's brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground. And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth. |

요셉이 보고 兄(형)들인 줄 아나 모르는 체 하고 ㄴ嚴(엄)한 소리로 그들에 말하여 가로되 너희가 어디서 왔느냐 그들이 가로되 穀物(곡물)을 사려고 가나안에서 왔나이다

As soon as Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them, but he pretended to be a stranger and spoke harshly to them. "Where do you come from?" he asked. "From the land of Canaan," they replied, "to buy food." And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food. |

요셉은 그 兄(형)들을 아나 그들은 요셉을 알지 못하더라
Although Joseph recognized his brothers, they did not recognize him. And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him. |
9 |
요셉이 그들에게 對(대)하여 ㄷ꾼 꿈을 생각하고 ㄹ그들에게 이르되 너희는 偵探(정탐)들이라 이 나라의 틈을 엿보려고 왔느니라
Then he remembered his dreams about them and said to them, "You are spies! You have come to see where our land is unprotected." And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. |

그들이 그에게 이르되 내 主(주)여 아니니이다 종들은 穀物(곡물)을 사러 왔나이다
No, my lord, they answered. "Your servants have come to buy food. And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come. |
11 |
우리는 다 한 사람의 아들로서 篤實(독실)한 者(자)니 종들은 偵探(정탐)이 아니니이다
We are all the sons of one man. Your servants are honest men, not spies." We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies. |
12 |
요셉이 그들에게 이르되 아니라 너희가 이 나라의 틈을 엿보러 왔느니라
No! he said to them. "You have come to see where our land is unprotected." And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. |
13 |
그들이 가로되 主(주)의 종 우리들은 十二(십이) 兄弟(형제)로서 가나안 땅 한 사람의 아들들이라 말째 아들은 오늘 아버지와 함께 있고 또 ㅁ하나는 없어졌나이다
But they replied, "Your servants were twelve brothers, the sons of one man, who lives in the land of Canaan. The youngest is now with our father, and one is no more." And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not. |
14 |
요셉이 그들에게 이르되 내가 너희에게 이르기를 너희는 偵探(정탐)들이라 한 말이 이것이니라
Joseph said to them, "It is just as I told you: You are spies! And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies: |
15 |
너희는 이같이 하여 너희 眞實(진실)함을 證明(증명)할 것이라 바로의 生命(생명)으로 盟誓(맹세)하노니 너희 말째 아우가 여기 오지 아니하면 너희가 여기서 나가지 못하리라
And this is how you will be tested: As surely as Pharaoh lives, you will not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here. Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither. |

너희 中(중) 하나를 보내어 너희 아우를 데려오게 하고 너희는 갇히어 있으라 내가 너희의 말을 試驗(시험)하여 너희 中(중)에 眞實(진실)이 있는지 보리라 바로의 生命(생명)으로 盟誓(맹세)하노니 그리하지
아니하면 너희는 果然(과연) 偵探(정탐)이니라 하고
Send one of your number to get your brother; the rest of you will be kept in prison, so that your words may be tested to see if you are telling the truth. If you are not, then as surely as Pharaoh lives, you are spies!" Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies. |

그들을 다 함께 三日(삼일)을 가두었더라
And he put them all in custody for three days. And he put them all together into ward three days. |
18 |
● 三日(삼일)만에 요셉이 그들에게 이르되 ㅂ나는 하나님을 敬畏(경외)하노니 너희는 이같이 하여 生命(생명)을 保全(보전)하라
On the third day, Joseph said to them, "Do this and you will live, for I fear God: And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God: |

너희가 篤實(독실)한 者(자)이면 너희 兄弟(형제) 中(중) 한 사람만 그 獄(옥)에 갇히게 하고 너희는 穀食(곡식)을 가지고 가서 ㅅ너희
집들의 주림을 救(구)하고

창42:33
If you are honest men, let one of your brothers stay here in prison, while the rest of you go and take grain back for your starving households. If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses: |
20 |
ㅇ너희 말째 아우를 내게로 데리고 오라 그리하면 너희 말이 眞實(진실)함이 되고 너희가 죽지 아니하리라 그들이 그대로 하니라
But you must bring your youngest brother to me, so that your words may be verified and that you may not die." This they proceeded to do. But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so. |
21 |
그들이 서로 말하되 ㅈ우리가 아우의 일로 因(인)하여 犯罪(범죄)하였도다 그가 우리에게 哀乞(애걸)할때에 그 마음의 괴로움을 보고도 듣지 아니하였으므로 이 괴로움이 우리에게
臨(임)하도다
They said to one another, "Surely we are being punished because of our brother. We saw how distressed he was when he pleaded with us for his life, but we would not listen; that's why this distress has come upon us." And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us. |

르우벤이 그들에게 對答(대답)하여 가로되 내가 너희더러 ㅊ그 아이에게 得罪(득죄)하지 말라고 하지 아니하였느냐 그래도 너희가 듣지 아니하였느니라 그러므로 ㅋ그의 피
값을 내게 되었도다 하니
Reuben replied, "Didn't I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn't listen! Now we must give an accounting for his blood." And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required. |

彼此間(피차간)에 通辯(통변)을 세웠으므로 그들은 요셉이 그 말을 알아 들은 줄을 알지 못하였더라
They did not realize that Joseph could understand them, since he was using an interpreter. And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter. |

요셉이 그들을 떠나 가서 ㅌ울고 다시 돌아와서 그들과 말하다가 그들 中(중)에서 시므온을 取(취)하여 그들의 目前(목전)에서

He turned away from them and began to weep, but then turned back and spoke to them again. He had Simeon taken from them and bound before their eyes. And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes. |

ㅍ命(명)하여 穀物(곡물)을 그 그릇에 채우게 하고 各人(각인)의 돈은 그 자루에 도로 넣게 하고 또 길 糧食(양식)을 그들에게 주게 하니 그대로 行(행)하였더라

Joseph gave orders to fill their bags with grain, to put each man's silver back in his sack, and to give them provisions for their journey. After this was done for them, Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them. |

● 그들이 穀食(곡식)을 나귀에 싣고 그곳을 떠났더니
they loaded their grain on their donkeys and left. And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence. |
27 |
ㅎ한 사람이 ㅏ客店(객점)에서 나귀에게 먹이를 주려고 자루를 풀고 본즉 그 돈이 자루 아구에 있는지라
At the place where they stopped for the night one of them opened his sack to get feed for his donkey, and he saw his silver in the mouth of his sack. And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth. |
28 |
그가 그 兄弟(형제)에게 告(고)하되 내 돈을 도로 넣었도다 보라 자루 속에 있도다 이에 그들이 魂(혼)이 나서 떨며 서로 돌아보며 말하되 하나님이 어찌하여 우리에게 이 일을 行(행)하셨는고 하고
My silver has been returned, he said to his brothers. "Here it is in my sack." Their hearts sank and they turned to each other trembling and said, "What is this that God has done to us?" And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us? |

그들이 가나안 땅에 돌아와 그 아비 야곱에게 이르러 그 만난 일을 仔細(자세)히 告(고)하여 가로되
When they came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan, they told him all that had happened to them. They said, And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying, |

그 땅의 主(주) 그 사람이 ㅑ嚴(엄)히 우리에게 말씀하고 우리를 그 나라 偵探者(정탐자)로 여기기로
The man who is lord over the land spoke harshly to us and treated us as though we were spying on the land. The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country. |
31 |
우리가 그에게 이르되 우리는 篤實(독실)한 者(자)요 偵探(정탐)이 아니니이다
But we said to him, 'We are honest men; we are not spies. And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies: |
32 |
우리는 한 아비의 아들 十二(십이) 兄弟(형제)로서 ㅓ하나는 없어지고 말째는 오늘 우리 아버지와 함께 가나안 땅에 있나이다 하였더니

We were twelve brothers, sons of one father. One is no more, and the youngest is now with our father in Canaan.' We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan. |
33 |
그 땅의 主(주) 그 사람이 우리에게 이르되 내가 이같이 하여 ㅕ너희가 篤實(독실)한 者(자)임을 알리니 너희 兄弟(형제) 中(중) 하나를 내게 두고 糧食(양식)을 가지고 가서
ㅗ너희 집들의 주림을 救(구)하고
Then the man who is lord over the land said to us, 'This is how I will know whether you are honest men: Leave one of your brothers here with me, and take food for your starving households and go. And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone: |

너희 말째 아우를 내게로 데려오라 그리하면 너희가 偵探(정탐)이 아니요 篤實(독실)한 者(자)임을 내가 알고 너희 兄弟(형제)를 너희에게 돌리리니 너희가 ㅛ이 나라에서
貿易(무역)하리라 하더이다 하고
But bring your youngest brother to me so I will know that you are not spies but honest men. Then I will give your brother back to you, and you can trade in the land.'" And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land. |
35 |
ㅜ各其(각기) 자루를 쏟고 본즉 各人(각인)의 돈뭉치가 그 자루 속에 있는지라 그들과 그 아비가 돈 뭉치를 보고 다 두려워하더니
As they were emptying their sacks, there in each man's sack was his pouch of silver! When they and their father saw the money pouches, they were frightened. And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid. |
36 |
그 아비 야곱이 그들에게 이르되 너희가 나로 ㅠ나의 子息(자식)들을 잃게 하도다 요셉도 없어졌고 시므온도 없어졌거늘 베냐민을 또 빼앗아 가고자 하니 이는 다 나를 害(해)롭게 함이로다

Their father Jacob said to them, "You have deprived me of my children. Joseph is no more and Simeon is no more, and now you want to take Benjamin. Everything is against me!" And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me. |

르우벤이 아비에게 告(고)하여 가로되 내가 그를 아버지께로 데리고 오지 아니하거든 으나의 두 아들을 죽이소서 그를 내 손에 맡기소서 내가 그를 아버지께로 데리고 돌아오리이다

Then Reuben said to his father, "You may put both of my sons to death if I do not bring him back to you. Entrust him to my care, and I will bring him back." And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again. |

야곱이 가로되 내 아들은 너희와 함께 내려가지 못하리니 이그의 兄(형)은 죽고 그만 남았음이라 萬一(만일) 너희 行(행)하는 ㅐ길에서 災難(재난)이 그 몸에 미치면
너희가 ㄱ나의 흰 머리로 슬피 陰府(음부)로 내려가게 함이 되리라
But Jacob said, "My son will not go down there with you; his brother is dead and he is the only one left. If harm comes to him on the journey you are taking, you will bring my gray head down to the grave in sorrow." And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. |
