줄로 그 코를 꿸 수 있겠느냐 ㅐ갈고리로 그 아가미를 꿸 수 있겠느냐
Can you put a cord through his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook? Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn? |

그것이 어찌 네게 連續(연속) 懇求(간구)하겠느냐 柔順(유순)한 말로 네게 이야기하겠느냐
Will he keep begging you for mercy? Will he speak to you with gentle words? Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee? |

어찌 너와 契約(계약)하고 ㄱ永永(영영)히 네 종이 되겠느냐
Will he make an agreement with you for you to take him as your slave for life? Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever? |

네가 어찌 새를 놀리는 것 같이 그것을 놀리겠으며 네 少女(소녀)들을 爲(위)하여 그것을 매어 두겠느냐
Can you make a pet of him like a bird or put him on a leash for your girls? Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens? |

어찌 漁夫(어부)의 떼가 그것으로 商品(상품)을 삼아 商賈(상고)들 가운데 나눌 수 있겠느냐
Will traders barter for him? Will they divide him up among the merchants? Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants? |

네가 能(능)히 槍(창)으로 그 가죽을 찌르거나 작살로 그 머리를 찌를 수 있겠느냐
Can you fill his hide with harpoons or his head with fishing spears? Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears? |

손을 그것에게 좀 대어 보라 싸울 일이 생각나서 다시는 아니하리라
If you lay a hand on him, you will remember the struggle and never do it again! Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more. |

잡으려는 所望(소망)은 헛것이라 그것을 보기만 하여도 落膽(낙담)하지 않겠느냐
Any hope of subduing him is false; the mere sight of him is overpowering. Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him? |

아무도 그것을 激動(격동)시킬 勇猛(용맹)이 없거든 能(능)히 나를 當(당)할 者(자)가 누구냐
No one is fierce enough to rouse him. Who then is able to stand against me? None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me? |

ㄴ누가 먼저 내게 주고 나로 갚게 하였느냐 ㄷ온 天下(천하)에 있는 것이 다 내 것이니라
Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me. Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine. |

● 내가 鰐魚(악어)의 肢體(지체)와 큰 힘과 훌륭한 構造(구조)에 對(대)하여 潛潛(잠잠)치 아니하리라
I will not fail to speak of his limbs, his strength and his graceful form. I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion. |

누가 그 가죽을 벗기겠으며 그 아가미 사이로 들어가겠는고
Who can strip off his outer coat? Who would approach him with a bridle? Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle? |
14 |
누가 그 얼굴의 門(문)을 열 수 있을까 그 두루 있는 이가 두렵구나
Who dares open the doors of his mouth, ringed about with his fearsome teeth? Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about. |
15 |
堅固(견고)한 비늘은 그의 자랑이라 서로 連(연)함이 封(봉)한 것 같구나
His back has rows of shields tightly sealed together; His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal. |
16 |
이것 저것이 한데 붙었으니 바람도 그 사이로 들어가지 못하겠고
each is so close to the next that no air can pass between. One is so near to another, that no air can come between them. |
17 |
서로 ㄹ連(연)하여 붙었으니 能(능)히 나눌 수도 없구나

They are joined fast to one another; they cling together and cannot be parted. They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered. |

그 입에서는 횃불이 나오고 불똥이 뛰어나며
Firebrands stream from his mouth; sparks of fire shoot out. Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. |

그 콧구멍에서는 煙氣(연기)가 나오니 마치 솥이 끓는 것과 갈대의 타는 것 같구나
Smoke pours from his nostrils as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds. Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. |
21 |
그 숨이 能(능)히 ㅂ숯불을 피우니 불꽃이 그 입에서 나오며
His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from his mouth. His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth. |
22 |
힘이 그 목에 뭉키었고 두려움이 그 앞에서 뛰는구나
Strength resides in his neck; dismay goes before him. In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him. |

그 살의 조각들이 ㅅ서로 連(연)하고 그 몸에 堅固(견고)하여 움직이지 아니하며

The folds of his flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable. The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved. |

그 마음이 돌 같이 단단하니 그 단단함이 맷돌 아랫짝 같구나
His chest is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone. His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone. |

그것이 일어나면 勇士(용사)라도 두려워하며 驚怯(경겁)하여 蒼黃(창황)하며
When he rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before his thrashing. When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves. |

칼로 칠찌라도 쓸데없고 ㅇ槍(창)이나 살이나 작살도 所用(소용)이 없구나

Iron he treats like straw and bronze like rotten wood. He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood. |

살이라도 그것으로 逃亡(도망)하게 못하겠고 물매돌도 그것에게는 겨같이 여기우는구나
Arrows do not make him flee; slingstones are like chaff to him. The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble. |

몽둥이도 검불 같이 보고 槍(창)을 던짐을 우습게 여기며
A club seems to him but a piece of straw; he laughs at the rattling of the lance. Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear. |
30 |
그 배 아래는 날카로운 ㅈ와륵 같으니 진흙 위에 ㅊ打作(타작) 機械(기계)같이 자취를 내는구나
His undersides are jagged potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge. Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire. |

깊은 물로 솥의 물이 끓음 같게 하며 바다로 젖는 香(향)기름 같게 하고
He makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment. He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment. |

自己(자기) 뒤에 光彩(광채)나는 길을 내니 사람의 보기에 바닷물이 白髮(백발) 같구나
Behind him he leaves a glistening wake; one would think the deep had white hair. He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary. |

ㅋ땅 위에는 그것 같은 것이 없나니 두려움 없게 지음을 받았음이라

Nothing on earth is his equal--a creature without fear. Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear. |
